We were lucky to catch up with Eric Amezcua recently and have shared our conversation below.
Eric , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
I manage my own social media fully to the extent. Social media and publically posting continously as an “underrated” content creator is a hobby I satisfyingly enjoy within my day to day life in sharing my favorite outfits/style with my viewers. I am currently not at the place I would desire to be within my social media game, but my goal is to connect with my favorite brands in partnerships and collaborations frequently.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Eric Amezcua. I am a 19 year old Mexican American college student passionate about fashion and clothing that can be expressed through my day to day life/social media. I believe that the clothing you wear speaks in values and conveys to others about you in a flattering way. As a student majoring in psychology, I’ve been educated that the clothes you choose to wear for the day have a large psychological impact on your mental health and demonstrating your overall state of hygiene. I am all about positivity and realistic happiness that we all genuinely deserve to feel frequently as imperfect humans. In other words, my self made brand expresses that you can be comftorable in the clothes you pick and genuinely feel good about yourself on the inside.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
In order to fund my identity and brand I push out on social media, I receive continous and endless support from my friends, family, relatives, and viewers comntinously to keep the energy going. For example, my best friends are always reaching out to me with photo ideas, outfits, environments, and so on. They are continously keeping my engagement high through sharing my posts, commenting, liking, etc. I am currently employed working at a after school youth program in my city that supports me on my general income and purchasing the clothes I enjoy wearing. This is a simple hide hustle that not only funds my fashion identity, but also supports me educationally through the development of my psychology major in success through experience. In the future, my goal is to be able to have an income that allows me to purchase new cameras, high end clothing, and travel to new places to not only build my social media fashion identity, but make those who created me proud.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the love and support one will recieve. Love is something you give, not earn, and when people love you for who you are it’s very rewarding and beautiful to feel. For example, people have shown love to me through commenting on my outfits, my aesthetic, style, persona, and so on, which not only leaves me feeling good about myself, but genuinely motivates me to keep doing what I do.
