We recently connected with Eon Alexander and have shared our conversation below.
Eon, appreciate you joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I learned how to do what I do the same way everyone else does: failing forward, observing , taking personal responsibility and accountability for my future, and not taking no for an answer. I don’t look back really. I believe everything happened for a reason in my life. I wouldn’t change anything. When it comes to success I think speed is overrated. No one wants to put in time equity anymore. Delayed gratification is a lost art these days and I think the most essential skill you can have is purpose -driven patience. The only obstacle standing in the way of anyone is themselves. Once you accept that everything else is easy.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is SimEon Alexander Brown. I’m a young black artist and entrepreneur born in Champaign, Illinois and raised in Wyandotte County , KS. I’m a greatness manufacturer and attractor. My music is my favorite medium of communication but I’m invested in using whatever the most effective medium is to inspire people to reach their greatness potential to the best of my ability. My perspective is what delineates me from others. It allows, provided it’s bought into, others to see that problem solving is something they always have the power to do. Get up and take the first step towards a better future because True Greatness Awaits.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Ask questions, give lots of grace, and demand the change they want to see. We live in such an anti-critical culture nowadays. Criticism facilities growth. With the right perspective, especially that of a creative, it can all be constructive.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The freedom. That’s what everyone is really striving for when they take the time to break down why they do what they do or what they want. As a creative you always have the space to exercise that freedom and it’s an honor and privilege to be appreciated by others for doing so.
