We recently connected with Enola Bedard and have shared our conversation below.
Enola, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
When I was 16 years old, I won a scholarship at a dance competition to go for a week in LA. It was the first time I saw how amazing the dancers were in LA and how extraordinary the training was as well. I then had the goal to move in LA and become an dancer, singer, choreographer and actress. It took more 5 years after that to get my O1 Visa and move to the US to pursue my dreams.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi,
My name is Enola Bedard and I am originally from quebec in canada and I now live in Los Angeles California. Since I was very young I have always been passionate about dancing, singing, acting, fashion.. etc. I did 6 years of musical training, 9 years of acting training and 10 years of dance training. When I was 16 years old I choreographed my first solo and won a scholarship to los angeles and this is when I knew exactly where I saw myself in 5 years and that is exactly where I am at the moment. To make my life the way it is today, I worked more than 30 hours a week in dancing by taking dance classes and also choreographing my own dances for more than 5 years. To pay for all this training, I had to work 2 different jobs: selling chocolate with my mom and mowing the lawn with my dad. After 5 years of hard work pandemic happened and I had no idea what my life would become. It is exactly the moment where my life changed. I started filming dance videos with my mom as my videographer for around 4 months. I then had the idea to start dancing in public and my first ever public video blew up to 30 million views and I had 1 million followers in a week. I then kept evolving in my crazy ideas and now I have more than 22 million followers across platforms.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal at the moment is to one day perform to my own music in stadiums and also be the lead actress of a movie or series.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the hardest summer of my life turned out to be the best summer of my life. When pandemic started all of my dreams and goals have been put on pause and I had no idea what to do. I was working with my dad mowing the lawn 60 hours a week and selling chocolate with my mom to pay back all of my dance training I took when I was traveling in LA. In that same summer my newest goal was to built a social media platform and to be able one day to live from my passions and move to LA. While working my 2 jobs, i was filming every night 3 dance videos with my mom. This process lasted for 4 months with barely any results. I wasn’t sure if I was wasting my time or I should keep going. I then had the best idea and realized that I needed to do something that no one else was currently doing on social media. I thought why not dance in the most weird places. I decided to go to the mall with my mom and my best friend to record the behind the scene of my video and then the result of my video. The same night it got more than 30 million views and this was the start of my career on social media
