We recently connected with Empress Goonie and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Empress thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s go back in time a bit – can you share a story of a time when you learned an important lesson during your education?
One of the most important lessons I learned was at ICPHS (Imagine College Prep High School). I used to get suspended a lot, which caused me to miss half a credit when it was time to graduate. That taught me a lesson of consequences and time. This lesson has been important in my life’s journey to be mindful of my actions and that time goes.

Empress, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the owner of Supply On Seventh Avenue! S.O.S.A is a beauty, health and cosmetic supply store located in downtown Saint Louis. Our top priority is to inform clients that health is wealth! I started S.O.S.A simply because I love myself! I feel like everyone should love themselves and what better way to be assisted with that than a one stop shop of all things to make you look, feel good about and love yourself S.O.S.A services include Hair, Skin, Nail, Health Benefits and Merch! We host back to school giveaways, fashion shows and more to give back to the community.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Starting out, to fund my business I worked a normal 9-5. I budgeted and saved for funding.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social Media is technology gold! I’ve definitely built a wider variety audience via socials. Everything now is technology! My advice for those just starting to build a social media presence would be to consistently post with substance.
