We were lucky to catch up with Emmasara Mcmillion recently and have shared our conversation below.
Emmasara, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
People often assume that growth comes in comfort. But for me and my family, the opposite was true.
We left behind a financially stable life in Oregon, a beautiful home, steady income, and predictability because we felt a tug in our spirit that wouldn’t let go. It didn’t make sense on paper, but it made sense in our soul.
So we packed up our entire life and moved to the desert.
Not metaphorically… literally.
We found ourselves living in an RV, surrounded by rattlesnakes, tarantulas, and scorching heat. Everything that once felt “secure” was stripped away. We faced droughts, not just in weather, but in resources, connections, and even clarity. There were days we asked, “Did we miss it? Was this a mistake?”
But it was in that dry place that our purpose sharpened.
It was in the stillness of the Chihuahuan desert where I realized just how much noise I had normalized. Comfort had been my cushion, but it was also my setback. The wilderness forced me to lead differently with grit, with prayer, and with a renewed conviction that families don’t just need inspiration… they need strategy.
It was there, in the wilderness, that I launched my health coaching practice.
No fancy studio. No big marketing budget. Just conviction and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
My teen daughters joined me. Together, we began hosting community nights for locals who, like us, had found themselves in this remote terrain searching for more. We taught them how to make non-toxic products. We educated on gut health, hormones, and whole-body wellness. We mixed soul care with self-care.
We didn’t have much, but we had purpose. And we shared it.
Those humble gatherings turned into healing spaces. Women who felt isolated began to reconnect with their bodies, with their purpose, and with one another. My daughters learned not just entrepreneurship, but leadership. And I rediscovered the power of starting where you are… even if “where you are” is a dusty patch of nowhere.
The desert tested me. But it also revealed me.
The desert wasn’t the end of the road, it was the proving ground. If you’re waiting for perfect conditions, stop.
Just start. Purpose thrives in the places most people avoid.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m EmmaSara McMillion… founder of The Mother of Change Foundation and CEO of Psalm78 Studios. I’m a certified behavior coach, family strategist, media producer, and mother of eight. My life’s work centers on restoring families, raising leaders, and challenging cultural norms that undermine the home.
My journey hasn’t followed the traditional path. From 2014 to 2019, my family lived in an RV… not out of desperation, but out of divine direction. That desert season became the birthplace of everything I do now: faith-fueled coaching, transformational media, and grassroots community leadership. I didn’t just build programs… I built a life my children could model.
What I offer today is the fruit of that journey.
Through one-on-one coaching, I help high-capacity mothers and women of faith experience deep personal transformation that impacts not only how they feel about themselves but how they lead inside their homes. These aren’t surface-level tweaks. This is heart work, mindset shifts, and strategic restructuring that produces real legacy.
Each month, I work with just four top-tier clients ready to reclaim their voice, realign their values, and lead from a place of spiritual and emotional authority. My coaching blends practical strategy with spiritual depth… because it takes both to break generational cycles and build something lasting.
If you’ve been feeling the call to step up… to parent with conviction, lead with clarity, and heal from what’s held you back… I’m here for that kind of work.
The world doesn’t need more noise. It needs anchored voices… and I’m here to help women become that in their homes and beyond.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
One of the most game-changing tools I’ve used, not just as a coach, but as a mother, mentor, and leader… is the DISC personality profile.
While skill-building and formal training are essential, success in my field depends just as much on understanding people. The DISC assessment helps uncover the “why” behind a person’s behavior, how they respond to pressure, communicate with others, make decisions, and process information.
This tool has radically improved how I lead coaching clients… but it’s also changed how I parent and how my kids relate to one another. In our home, DISC isn’t just something I use professionally. It’s part of our language. My children now understand their own personality types, and they’ve learned how to navigate conflict, respect differences, and lead more effectively, even at a young age.
In the workplace, DISC builds stronger teams. In relationships, it builds better communication. And in coaching, it reveals blind spots that unlock deep transformation.
That’s why it’s a core part of my transformational coaching offer. I don’t just help clients hit goals… I help them understand themselves and those around them, so they can lead well in every sphere of life: business, marriage, parenting, and beyond.
True success comes when you stop guessing who you are… and start leading from clarity.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Hands down… authenticity paired with transformation.
People don’t invest in coaching just because it looks polished. They invest because they see proof… proof of change, proof of results, and proof that you’re walking what you teach. The most effective strategy I’ve used to grow my clientele has been to lead with real life, not just real marketing.
I share my personal journey… raising eight children, living in an RV for five years, launching a coaching practice from the desert, and building a movement that starts at home. I let people into my story, not just my success. And that resonates.
Beyond storytelling, I focus on results and relationships. When clients experience real breakthrough… emotionally, spiritually, and practically… they talk about it. They share their transformation, refer others, and come back when they’re ready for the next level.
Also, because my coaching is deeply personal and strategic, I don’t chase volume. I aim to work with just four high-level clients each month. That focus allows me to pour in deeply and deliver transformation that lasts… and that kind of transformation markets itself.
No gimmicks. No chasing trends. Just clarity, conviction, and consistency… and the right clients come.
If you’re ready for that kind of change, I’d be honored to walk with you.
Not everyone is ready for this kind of work… but if you are, and you’re committed to leading with conviction, we may be a powerful fit.
