We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emmarie Jackson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emmarie below.
Emmarie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I’ve personally discovered that success is driven by a lot of passion, and perseverance through failure. Failure is necessary to achieve success. And that success is not defined by the amount of money you make, nor your popularity. But rather, it is defined by the peace and satisfaction you achieve from your work, and continuing to have that same level of passion as you grow. The financial and social success will follow, as long as you continue to dedicate time and effort to maintain the same quality, continue to keep focused, and have love for what you do.
Emmarie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started growing interest in photography after my children were born. However, photography is so broad, it can take a while to figure out what part of it you really want to pursue. I started off with weddings, because at the time, I saw it more as something I can financially gain from. Later on, I realized that the wedding industry isn’t what really interested me. Although my work with weddings over the years has improved immensely, what I started to grow a solid passion for was fine art and fashion photography.
As I continued to attend styled shoots with models and other photographers, I grew fond of the styling process. My imagination kept working. And although the first few WEDDING styled shoots I styled on my own were not successful, I found that the FASHION inspired styled shoots I created were becoming noticed, and actually graced the cover of a few magazines.
Now, I offer fashion, fine art and boudoir shoots for women not only in Dallas, but anywhere in the country, and even the world.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe I am one of the few photographers in DFW with a unique style of photography. I photograph only women. And although I know that it is a very miniscule piece of the market pie, its something that I absolutely love. My eyes are drawn to feminine beauty. My photography focuses on the subject, nothing around it. In most of my work, you will find that I keep it simple. The only things I style are the outfit and makeup. Every now and then, I will throw in florals or props that correspond to a theme, but a lot of my work is centered on my subject.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I’ve always believed that all women are beautiful. It doesn’t matter what size, shape, or age. Confidence building has always been my goal.
