We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emmanuella Eshiett. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emmanuella below.
Alright, Emmanuella thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I’ve occasionally thought about what having a regular job will be like however, I’ve never thought it wise to give up mid way through in my business. Fashion is a Rich-kid sport, it is very expensive and I am funding my business myself despite the odds. it’s nonstop, and it’s a dragon that needs to be fed. There’s always a constant need to do better, make your products better, make your services better”. It goes from finding the ideal team of people to work with and ensuring that they understand and align themselves with the goals, vision and objective of the brand. To the manufacturing process; sourcing/ production, then the marketing aspect where you have the products shoots, campaigns/ targeting the right audience to sell to. Running any kind of business can be overwhelming, I think I speak for all business owners. Am I happy as a business owner? most definitely. The business has grown and evolved so much over the years and that’s a driving force for me right now. I had to learn that big lofty goals aren’t immediate but rather a gradual process. I’d say never downplay the power of consistency

Emmanuella , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Emmanuella Eshiett, Creative Director/ Head designer for Ropa By Nammy. My Journey subconsciously started in 2017/2018 my final year at school. . I would give the school Artisan’s a piece of fabric to create particular designs for me. In January 2019, my year of service when I was finally done with school. I recall calling two of my very good friends, (Miss Clinton & Rosemary ) telling them that I was ready to start my own line of fashion business and they should help out with a brand name. Over the course of an hour-long phone call, We collectively came up with the brand name, Ropa By Nammy. “Nammy” coined from my native name Nnamso. My story would obviously be incomplete without acknowledging these two. Thankfully, I had saved just about enough in a small wooden container during my final year of college to get the business name registered and to enroll in a fashion school. My sister was a great support system when I started. I am most proud of how well the brand has evolved, The team/ community I have now. And most especially my resilience. For never giving up when faced with daily challenges.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
My clients are a major asset to my business. The crucial value for us is Customer centricity. It enables me to produce quality work for them and recognize their uniqueness because I take the time to fully immerse myself in their world. Customer loyalty is maintained by our cost-effective customer service. Ensuring that a client receives both quality service and a positive experience from us as well as value for their money.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I started the business with zero capital and just one machinery. I was practically just funding it with my personal money. That was super draining. I was at a point in my life where I had no sense of direction, purpose or clarity with where I was headed in my business coupled with the fact that I had no resources to bring most of my ideas to life. I hadn’t even carved out my Niche. But here’s the thing, you know when they say everything happens for a reason? If I had access to the capital I needed as at the time, I wouldn’t have spent it wisely. I’m more knowledgeable now, my vision and goals are clearer, I have a sense of purpose and direction. Somewhat, I’m greatful I didn’t have all the funding I had desired and I’m super grateful for the failures Because it has been major contributing factor to the evolvement of the brand.
