We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Emmanuel Gutierrez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Emmanuel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
I’m seeing a lot of music from this generation being sampled just to provide a nostalgic feeling. I’m not against music being sampled because that’s been a thing. However, it’s over saturated right now. A lot of the new music that’s being presented to us lacks a bit of originality so as a creative myself, it’s hard trying to find inspiration from the new music that’s being put out..

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is 2aminthemorning and I’m an R&B, artist and producer. I like to make a lot of love music whether it’s happy or sad. I feel like love is a universal language and I try to convey that in my arat and in my craft. I started making music when I was about 10 years old. When I was 13 I was placed in to a foster home and that’s when I decided to really use music as an outlet for myself and for others that might be going through the same thing. I come from an Afro Latino family. I have nine siblings. I grew up in Union City, New Jersey. my favorite color is red however, my brand and my marketing I base it on the color blue. Some of my music influences include Michael Jackson, Linkin Park, Jay-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac Eminem, Drake, The Weeknd and Usher. I am the in-house producer for Keelin. One of my proudest moments is definitely producing for her because she has a lot of potential, and I truly believe that she is a star. my goal is to provide her with my resources so she can succeed.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I met my business partner/audio engineer Youngin at the end of 2015 through a mutual friend. My mutual friend had did a song with my business partner and eventually we linked up and have been elevated ever since.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience by creating content and marketing my music through certain artists fan base that I know will also like my music.
