We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emmanuel Etti. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emmanuel below.
Alright, Emmanuel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
At The Rightz, our mission is fueled by a passionate commitment to enhance the quality of leather products available in our country, Nigeria. We’re dedicated to addressing the issue of substandard imported leather goods head-on. Our driving force is to provide a distinct solution – finely crafted, handmade leather shoes made right here in Nigeria. We firmly believe that by offering top-notch, locally-made products, we can empower our fellow citizens with access to high-quality options they can be proud of. This mission resonates deeply with us as we strive to contribute to the growth of our local economy and showcase the incredible craftsmanship that Nigeria has to offer to the world.

Emmanuel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Emmanuel Etti, a skilled Footwear Artisan in Lagos, Nigeria.
My journey in the footwear industry commenced three years ago with the distinct purpose of offering superior-quality and comfortable handcrafted footwear tailored specifically for the middle-class demographic. This endeavor aims to curtail the prevalence of imported footwear among middle-income individuals within our nation.
Distinguished by our meticulous attention to intricate details, exceptional customer service, innovative practices, and the utilization of premium, environmentally friendly materials, my establishment stands out prominently amidst our competitors.
Central to our ethos is the profound value we place upon our clientele. Their patronage not only sustains our enterprise but also defines our sense of accomplishment and purpose.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
Initially, I established the business and entrust its operations to others.
However, I came to the realization that I was merely squandering resources, as I lacked a comprehensive understanding of the venture I was undertaking.
So, I enrolled in a shoe-making course. Despite the challenges posed by attending classes alongside my full-time job, I am grateful to God to have persevered and overcome the obstacles.
Now, I am the executive designer and artisan at TheRightz. I decide what to produce and how to produce it.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
As a business owner, it’s crucial to understand the entirety of your business’s operations, i.e from end to end. Embrace humility in learning from industry experts and allocate significant resources toward both your personal growth and the development of your staff.
It’s impotant to acknowledge that a thriving business necessitates a profound understanding of its operational intricacies.
