We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emma Pion-Berlin . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emma below.
Emma, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I’ve worked on many meaningful projects, but one of my favorites was one I produced recently. In April, I collaborated with an organization called Parents Anonymous and partnered with a marketing agency named Actum to develop a remarkable project. This project involved a commercial photoshoot to create photography assets for the Parents Anonymous National Parent and Youth Helpline. Anyone can call, text, or live chat with the helpline and get professional support 24/7 for anything they are dealing with.
I organized 17 photo shoots featuring diverse families and individuals from various backgrounds. I meticulously planned different scenarios to represent the struggles and stressors, as well as the triumphs and joys families experience together. The purpose was to create a collection of imagery for a major marketing campaign across social media, on their new website, and more to show the helpline’s impact on people of all ages.
This project was truly a joy because I had the opportunity to connect with so many people and hear their stories. They opened up to me and shared their lives, creating memorable and magical moments. I love creating work that I know will help and impact people profoundly.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a freelance photographer, videographer, and visual storyteller based in Denver, Colorado. My journey into this industry started with a profound passion for storytelling and community. I studied journalism and photography at CU Boulder, which initially got me into the field. After stepping foot into working in the media, I moved to Guatemala. Instead of continuing down the media route, I decided to carve my path of visual storytelling and created my photo and video business. This path has taken me worldwide, allowing me to blend my love for travel with my professional pursuits. At the heart of what I do, it’s all about connection, and I love to connect and listen to people.
I’m passionate about working with mission-driven organizations and brands. I also adore working with businesses and entrepreneurs in the wellness space. My work spans from capturing the essence of small companies to amplifying the voices of solopreneurs and showcasing the impactful work of nonprofits. I specialize in lifestyle and branding photography and video production. I offer headshots, branding imagery, event coverage, promotional videos, and short-form videos for social media. My goal is to create visuals that resonate profoundly and inspire action.
What sets me apart is my philosophy and approach to storytelling. At the heart of my work lies the desire to tell stories that captivate and give people a voice. I strive to spread awareness and help bridge the gap between differing worlds. This vision drives my work, whether behind the camera or crafting a narrative on the keyboard.
One of the main problems I solve for my clients is the challenge of authentic representation. Many businesses and entrepreneurs struggle to convey their brand’s story and essence visually. My superpower is understanding each client’s unique brand, business, and story and finding a way to capture it visually that is powerful and true to their vision.
For potential clients and followers, I want you to know that my work is more than just capturing beautiful images. It’s about telling your story in a way that resonates, authentically shares your brand, and expands your reach. Whether you’re a brand, a nonprofit, or an entrepreneur, I’m dedicated to producing visuals that genuinely resonate with your audience and reflect your goals.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
To me, relationships are everything! Even if I work on only one project with my clients, I like to keep the connection going. If my clients are nearby, I occasionally try to meet up for coffee or lunch and see how they are doing. I ask them about their lives on a personal note and connect deeply with them because that’s what I believe creates loyalty and trust. I also email clients after their shoots and ask how their experience was and if I can further help them or solve any problems. I make sure they know I am here for them and that I care deeply about their business or initiative.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative is the profound connection I build with people and their stories. Every project is an opportunity to dive deep into the essence of someone’s journey, whether it’s a mission-driven organization, a wellness brand, or a solopreneur. The magic happens when I can visually capture their unique narrative and see its impact.
Being creative has also taken me around the world, allowing me to learn about diverse cultures, traditions, and perspectives. Each experience enriches my storytelling and broadens my understanding of the human experience. This global perspective helps me create authentic and universally resonant work.
Additionally, the freedom to carve my path is incredibly fulfilling. It allows me to choose projects that align with my values and passions, ensuring that every piece of work I produce is meaningful and impactful. This connection, the ability to tell stories that truly matter, and the freedom to forge my journey fuel my passion daily.
