We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Emma Mulvany a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Emma, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
The coaching industry of the last couple decades has been solution-oriented and mindset driven. And while this approach has its benefits, it’s a small piece of the puzzle of wellbeing and empowerment. And can often lead women to a cycle of seeking the next person or solution to “fix” them, and before they know it they’re stuck on a perpetual hamster wheel of putting their power in someone else’s hands.
I believe in coaching women to become the CEOs of their own lives, not just to achieve goals or follow a path that someone else has set for them. I work with women to peel back the layers of conditioning that hold them back. It’s about helping them rediscover their inner wisdom and trust their own intuition.
My role is to create a safe and collaborative space where they can explore their deepest desires and dismantle the limiting beliefs that keep them from stepping fully into their power. I don’t believe in handing out solutions; I believe in empowering women to unlock their own knowing of what’s best for them. So they ultimately reclaim their power and confidence, and live a life they’re in love with.
I also take a very intuitive approach to coaching, allowing me to tap into and utilize a clients strengths and pull from a rich library of exercises, tools, strategies, and practices that are personally chosen to meet the unique needs of each woman and the current moment. This also allows for a deeper connection, which isn’t always possible with a more prescriptive solution-based approach.
No matter what, every coaching relationship is a collaborative partnership and I’m honored to have the privilege to walk along women on their journey of self discovery, transformation, and empowerment.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I use a model called the Pillars of Empowerment, which include Self-trust, Personal Integrity, and Intuition, to help women reclaim their confidence, pursue their purpose, and live authentically so they can make decisions with ease, feel fulfilled, and feel genuinely at home in their bodies.
This model is an invitation to dive deeper into our inner landscape. It asks us to look closely at the beliefs, values, and messaging we’ve inherited or been raised with and this is where my clients see the biggest transformation. When we get curious and honest about the ways in which we’ve been living according to external definitions of success, we can identify more aligned ways of being that allow us (women) to feel confident, powerful, and at peace.
I put this model to work in my time with private clients and in group coaching experiences both online and in person in the Chicagoland area. And I’m always sharing inspiration, my own insights and behind the scenes of my journey on Instagram @empowerment_by_emma
I recently released a guide to catapult women to an empowered and unapologetic space so they can meet today’s challenges with confidence, which is available for free at https://EmmaMulvany.com/newsletter.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I thought I had to do business in a very specific way. That there was one primary way that entrepreneurship “looked”. And this was admittedly the masculine-dominant approach that glorified hustle and burnout and grinding. And it didn’t work for me.
Through a sometimes painful and often tedious process, I learned how gravely untrue that story of success via hustle and burnout is.
And it’s been liberating.
I now work in a way that honors the feminine, which means I plan and work according to the cycles of nature, life, energy, and my own body. I incorporate lots of rest, pivot based on the knowing of my intuition, and work in collaboration with other women in order to raise all of our businesses up. There’s no competition, just an expansive awareness that we all benefit (clients and customers included) from supporting and being in community with each other.
Burnout is a thing of the past as my needs are always met (even as a mom of 4!) and this approach allows me to show up fully and in my highest capacity for my clients. It’s a way of working that I believe is the next big trend in service based business and one that benefits everyone – from clients to employees to the greater community.
There’s no other way I’d do business now.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Hands down my best source of clients is word of mouth. I absolutely love networking, collaborating, and working with other women in any capacity. And while it didn’t start as an intentional marketing or lead generating strategy, I’m so grateful for the relationships I’ve gained through meeting and working with women. Every connection is a privilege and source of energy that lights me up and infuses my business with the best vibe and energy.
