Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emma Barrera. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Emma, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
One of the things I love most about the brand we’ve created here at Right Hand Glam is that it’s truly unapologetic. We’re loud, we’re bold, we swear like sailors…and people eat it up.
At the heart of what we do is tell stories. We want people to feel seen and heard. And that can be hard when you operate in the echo chamber that is social media.
We’re constantly fighting the algorithm to get our message out there. Some people are hounded by clients who know they need them and say they trust them to be experts, but then question every move they make. And it’s so easy to get caught up in other people’s successes. You’re constantly worrying about whether or not you’re behind.
I firmly believe that we all got into the business of freelancing for some sort of freedom. And if your business isn’t giving you that freedom, something needs to change. The only “should” I believe in is that you should be loving what you chose to do every day.
For a lot of people (especially our wonderful introverts), selling makes their skin crawl. But if you don’t sell, you can’t make money. And that’s why they come to us.
They see us using our voice, and they want to bring that into their corner of the internet. So we go into their accounts every day and we tell their stories. And I get to watch our clients become more confident and empowered in sharing themselves more openly because they’re inspired by the work they see us doing for them.
Authenticity is the most powerful thing in the online space. Too many people are faking it. But we never will. And if we do? Please call us out on it, because that means we’re not standing by our own values.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Right Hand Glam is THE Engagement Agency, supporting scaling service providers and coaches in organically growing their following, increasing brand awareness, and converting conversations to cash.
As we like to say, we get down and dirty in the DMs so you don’t have to!
We hear it all the time…
“I don’t know what to say or how to say it!”
“What if people think I’m sleazy for talking about my offers?”
“I’m scared of selling my services online—I don’t even know where to start!”
But if you don’t sell, how will you ever make sales?
Whenever people ask me what I do, I ask them if they want the short version or the long version. Most of the time they ask for the short version.
“Well, every day my team and I log into our clients’ accounts, we pretend to be them, and we sell their shit.”
Their jaws drop.
And why wouldn’t they? I’m telling them that I support womenpreneurs from all over the world in making BANK on Instagram.
If you can’t…
If you don’t feel comfortable…
If you’re not sure how…
That’s exactly why we’re here.
Our client Liz had this to say about being an introvert who works with RHG:
“I hated engaging with people aside from the personal side of stuff because I always feel like even if I am being genuine that it can feel like I’m just looking for a sale.”
We take that pressure off your back. And if you’re worried it “won’t sound like you,” we’re already two steps ahead. We’ve got it covered!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I was 17 years old, a freshman in college, I was diagnosed with Bipolar II Disorder.
My entire life fell apart. I lost everything. Every dream I had for myself no longer seemed within reach. And frankly, it wasn’t.
I started college in a top ten International Affairs program, with sights set on getting into politics after graduation. I graduated from college with a degree in Anthropology from my safety school.
Obviously that wasn’t the plan, but it was what I needed to do to survive. And that really was the goal every day – just get through to the next one, keep on living.
I ended up graduating college a year early, but I had no plan. I didn’t want to go dig in a ditch somewhere, I didn’t want to get a Masters, and I didn’t want to teach. I worked nearly 40 hours a week in college, so I didn’t have any relevant internships to lean on for a job.
I never planned on being a CEO. Hell, I never thought Right Hand Glam would ever grow to be what you know (and love it) as these days.
Right Hand Glam was founded in 2020 as a way to make ends meet during the pandemic after both the gym and the restaurant I worked at were forced to close.
It wasn’t a dream. It was just…there. And then it grew. And grew. And GREW.A few years and hundreds of clients later, I think we’ve got this shit down.
You see, we cornered the engagement market before there even was one. No one was calling it engagement or lead generation back then. Everyone simply knew that there was a lot of power in Instagram and they wanted to harness it.
You see, the beautiful things about these online business is that the sky truly is the limit. No one telling you what you can or can’t do. No one else making the rules. It’s just you.
Now, almost six years after my diagnosis, I run a multi-six figure business…and my life. I never thought this was where I’d end up, but I’m grateful every single day that this is how it all turned out.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
The beautiful thing about working in social media is that there’s very little overhead. I truly started my business with two thumbs and an Instagram account.
I paid for a Canva subscription when I first started out, and that was about it.
To this day, I still run a very lean business with high profit margins.
I was never taught, well most of us never were, that *this* was an option, that there was another path.
Freelancing is hard. It will always be hard. But it’s rewarding. And YOU get to make the rules.
