We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emilya. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emilya below.
Emilya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew I wanted to be a music artist from a very early age. I remember being in elementary school and getting a radio. I spent hours in my room listening to music, dressing up, and dancing and singing. My stuffed animals were my audience and the feeling was so euphoric, I can still recall it to this day. I still get that feeling on stage and that’s how I know that performing is what I am meant to do.
Emilya, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My art is ever-evolving because I have so many different interests and inspirations. I consider myself a pop/R&B artist with an ethereal feel – emotional ballads are my love language. I think my style as an artist sets me apart because of the unique tone of my voice. I really don’t sound like anyone else. I am proud of myself for still pursuing this dream even when life gets busy or I lose vision. I can always guarantee I will be releasing music and performing until I can’t anymore. I am excited to announce that I will be releasing some new music very soon!
My journey has been a long one – starting with learning the piano in first grade. Up until now, there have been many setbacks and bumps in the road. Slow months and productive months. Nothing about the music business is ever easy, but the product is so worth it. Keeping a supportive circle and finding inspiration from outside yourself is key to overcoming challenges in the business and in motivation. I’ve learned so much about myself and have been able to use music to heal some of my deepest wounds.
I want the world to know no one is alone in their journey or story. Someone somewhere has been through what you are going through right now. That connection is so evident in music, and I hope people can find love, joy and vulnerability in my music.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being an artist is seeing the connection, emotion, and vulnerability it can bring out in people. Music can touch people in a way nothing else can. I love hearing feedback when people love and relate to my songs. It makes me so happy to know my career is helping others outside of myself.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My dad passed away when I was in high school. He was my first big musical influence. That was hard to bounce back from as a fifteen-year-old, but I keep pursing my dreams in honor of him. After overcoming that, I know nothing can deter me from making music forever.
