Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emily Wynns. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Emily , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I received my very first camera at 10 years old. I had absolutely zero knowledge of how to use it or produce the captivating images I so desperately wanted to create. All I knew was that I had a passion for freezing moments in time to be remembered forever. I loved seeing life and it’s moments from behind the lens. Fast forward to 7 years ago when I was given my first DSLR camera, again with zero knowledge of how to use it. I learned by trial and error. I began experimenting with various settings, lighting scenarios, and volunteers. Over time, I have invested in various educational resources from photographers I admire and look up to. Whose work was similar to what I aspire mine to be one day.
If I could go back in time and give myself advice, I would tell myself to not be so scared to invest in myself and take risks when it came to trying new things. For a long time, I was nervous to go outside of my comfort zone. Because of my fear, it took me much longer to learn what I do now.
In order to be a successful photographer, I believe that the only essential skill one needs to have is creativity. Creativity goes a long way in this trade. Its what sets each individual apart from the other. Not allowing yourself to fully embrace your creative side can hold you back from you full potential as a photographer.

Emily , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Emily Wynns, I am 25 years old and I have been a photographer for the past 6 years. I started my business with the intention of capturing people’s future favorite moments. I picked up photography after realizing that so many of life’s precious moments do not get the preservation they deserve. As a photographer, I have had the privilege of being part of the most incredible moments. I picked up a camera 6 years ago for that very reason,
I have experience in multiple different areas of photography. Anywhere from weddings, graduations, bookish-inspired events, engagements, maternity, fresh 48, family and so much more.
I am most proud of the way I interact with clients, and I believe that this truly sets me apart from other photographers. I stand firm in my belief that I am called to love like Jesus. In all situations, I treat others with respect, love, and understanding. I would want all potential future clients to know that I value their moments, and I want to capture them in the most beautiful ways to be remembered forever. This isn’t just a source of income, or another job for me, this is truly one of my dearest passions in life.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a photographer is seeing people light up when they receive their gallery for the first time. The gratitude people have for their moments encapsulated forever is honestly so special.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe my integrity and character is what has helped build my reputation within this market. The way I treat others is of the highest mportance to me.
