Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emily Sheridan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Emily, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
I wish I would’ve started sooner. I try to not look back on the past too much. But I feel like I would be much farther along in my art career if I would’ve started sooner. I took a very long break doing art when I jumped into motherhood so it was not for nothing, I try to remember that I’m exactly where I am supposed to be.
Emily, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I originally got into art as a way to get out of my head. However I didn’t get serious about it until 3 years ago, as a way to get through COVID but I wanted to challenge myself and grow as well. The type of work I provide is color. I do everything from emotional and personal pieces to pet portraits & human portraits. I love all of them equally but the most special pieces to me are my ghost paintings. All of these being very colorful vibrant works, I want to spread joy in any way possible.
I’m most proud of how consistent I have been, and how hard I have worked to get where I am. I decided I was going to be great at it, and I have been.
Somethings I want people to know about me are I’m a parent, I have 2 disabled daughters who motivate the heck out of me. But have also taught me how important it is to be inclusive, my space will ALWAYS be an inclusive space.
I also love to cook, anything that uses my creative brain and my hands I am all for.
I also have ADHD, it fuels my art but it also makes it difficult to complete tasks at times- to the ADHD person reading this success is possible with ADHD.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In the beginning of my art selling journey, I remember feeling so upset that people I thought had my back, or people who I felt should’ve been supporting me weren’t, and honestly spite fueled me to keep going and still does. If I have nothing else to keep me going, I will do it in spite of you. And it’s worked!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think I’ve earned my reputation over time. I’ve spent a lot of my time uplifting my community, and just overall I’m consistent, you can count on me to be there.
