Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emily Nemeth. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Emily, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Before I can talk about what I think it takes to be successful you have to understand that success looks different to everyone. Sometimes success translates to money. Sometimes it’s a happy family. Sometimes it’s someones health … it can be translated so many different ways. Most times, success professionally though reflects itself through profitability and publicity. No matter how success is defined to you I believe the core values in an individual that lead to success is drive, persistence, and humility. We can study historical figures who have been quote on quote successful and find that 1. No one was pushing them, they went for it on their own. 2. They kept going when it got tough. 3. They failed but they still tried again. I think it’s so important as we strive for “success” that we also give honor to our faults and “losses” as they only push us towards greater wins… success.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Emily Nemeth and I am the author and creator of the coffee table book, Bathroom Saga. I also run an Instagram account @bathroomsaga featuring unique and awesome bathrooms. I started “getting into” bathrooms back in 2016 when I started traveling and encountering some cool bathrooms. I at the time worked for a small marketing company based in Dallas, TX and ironically worked very closely with wholesale printers and produced promotional materials for clients. It was then I started to feel like maybe I should start a little book of all the bathrooms I have found. The whole vision happened very organically and with great insight from my sister in law, family and close friends! It was and still is an extraordinary journey to be on. My online platform has connected me with so many new, cool and inspiring people. It has opened up a lot of opportunities and created connections I couldn’t imagine having created any other way.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I 100% believe in shooting your shot. I also have always had a business POV that I rather work smarter vs harder. I rather “run with the big dogs” so to speak than hustle for all the little wins. My best source of new business (clients) has been word of mouth— a lot of networking. But also, a lot of research. A lot of late nights scrolling reading about how to submit my book to companies, new markets, and buying opportunities. I also have tried to use the Instagram community to help bring exposure to my book and find new opportunities through IG.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
For me, my creativity doesn’t have a place where it begins and it starts. It’s kind of just … always on going. For the book, even though it is complete there is still so many other things it could turn into. There was never a particular goal or mission that drove the book just another idea that I was excited to dream and help turn into life.
