We recently connected with Emily Mavrakos and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My company, Mavrakos Media, is very meaningful to me, because it allows me to be creative and express myself however I want. I love seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they get back their photos or edits that I’ve helped them work on, it just makes me extremely happy to do what I do. I’m proud to help people bring their creative sides out; and it also helps me with mine.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
All throughout high school, I’ve always been very interested in creative media, and took a lot of classes for it throughout my school years. When I went to college, I knew I wanted to study film and photography, so that’s what I did. I moved all the way to Orlando, Florida, and studied creative media, and now, here I am! And I’m very proud to be where I am today. Once I graduated college, I started working on my own business, Mavrakos Media. I offer all different kinds of services from photography, photo editing, to video editing.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I love being able to help other people bring out their creative side. If someone has an idea they want for a photo shoot, it is my favorite thing when we achieve that goal, and everyone is extremely satisfied with the outcome of our work together. With me, it’s not just me working for you, we work together to make the best outcome for you and your image.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Definitely communication. I would do free photo shoots during the beginning of my business to get the word out, and to get myself more experience. But the more I learned, and the more experience I got, the more comfortable I became with where I was at in my business.
