Emily, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?

I am a full-time entrepreneur and spiritual business owner, and I wouldn’t have gotten here without taking some huge risks! I decided to pursue entrepreneurship and my dream of being a successful spiritual business owner while I was working in a corporate job. I had what many would consider to be a “dream job,” I worked for a Fortune 500 retail company in the fashion industry, and had a great salary and great benefits. But I was completely unfulfilled, my health was taking a toll from the stress of the job, and I knew that if I stayed to work at that company I would completely burn myself out and suffer some major health consequences. I started building my spiritual business on the side, and outside of my work hours, I would do intuitive readings and coaching sessions for my growing clientele. I also started incorporating manifestation practices, everyday I would wake up and visualize myself working for myself and my business, and asking the universe for help with finding the right clients and taking the right actions in my business in order to grow my income. I kept getting a strong nudge that I needed to quit my corporate job and that I could no longer do both entrepreneurship and working at the same time. At the time, I had very little money saved and my business was only making a few hundred dollars per month. Most people would say that I was totally crazy in quitting this great job and going off on my own… but I took a huge risk and did it anyway. All of my manifestation work paid off! After I quit and I received my last paycheck, I received a tax refund for the exact amount that I needed to pay my bills that month. The month after that, after I had time to really work on my business, attract clients, and create new service offerings, I fully replaced my corporate income. And the rest is history! Now I’m a six figure spiritual business owner, and I can 100% fully say that quitting my corporate job is the best decision I ever made and the best risk I’ve ever taken in my life.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am a six figure spiritual business owner, intuitive mentor, and spiritual teacher. My business Emily the Mystic helps high-achieving old souls heal. I am on a mission to help my clients heal from the past as well as reclaim their intuitive gifts, manifest their dreams, and experience the most joyful life while doing it. I am an expert in psychic gifts, past life regression, meditation, the Akashic Records, shadow work, manifestation, quantum healing, and other spiritual practices.

I was a very intuitive and empathic child, but I didn’t have the classic “psychic experiences” while I was growing up. I didn’t grow up seeing ghosts in my bedroom, or telling random strangers true facts about their lives. However, I was obsessed with reading books about spirituality from a very young age, and always attached myself to this idea that I could be “psychic” and teach myself how to connect with the spirit world. Fast forward to my early twenties when I had a corporate “dream job,” that left me extremely disconnected from my day-to-day life. As a steppingstone to redesign my life, I pivoted into personal training on the side, and shortly after found myself immersed once again in spirituality. I began studying spirituality like I did when I was a kid, I started working with spiritual coaches and mentors, and began learning how to connect with the spirit world myself. My psychic gifts started coming in full throttle, and I started helping others connect with their own intuition. Now, I’m a full-time spiritual business owner who helps others reclaim their own psychic and intuitive gifts!

Overall, I help my clients become their most authentic selves and rediscover who they are at a soul level. This helps them manifest whatever they are desiring in life- whether that be an aligned career, more money, a loving romantic relationship, a dream home, new travel experiences, or even starting a business of their own. I do this through a modality called the Akashic Records that helps my clients discover who they really are, heal from their past lives and their childhood in this lifetime, and align with the future they know that they deserve. I am also an expert in helping my clients connect with their intuition, discovering their own psychic gifts, and using their intuitive gifts to make the world a better place. I am most proud that I have helped hundreds of students in my readings and in my online courses re-discover their own intuitive gifts and find a life path that is so authentic to them and brings them so much joy!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

Becoming a full-time entrepreneur and spiritual business owner has required me to completely let go of societal programming and conditioning around what “success” looks like. I grew up in a community where you were taught that being successful in life meant this: going to college, getting a stable and secure job, saving for retirement, getting married, settling down and having children. Now that life path may be perfectly suitable for others, but that is not the path my soul chose to take in this lifetime! I quickly became bored of working in a corporate job, and I knew that staying on that path long-term would make me totally miserable. But I felt an immense amount of guilt, shame, and fear around choosing a path that was unique to me, and one that not many find success with. Letting go of how others define “success” and a “successful career” has been absolutely huge for me. It has allowed me to fully step into my business feeling comfortable and confident being my true self, it has allowed me to set my own hours in my business, and it has allowed me to re-define success and what it means to me. Now, I get to live my most successful life on my terms and that has given me SO much freedom!

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?

It is absolutely essential in the spiritual industry to work with a mentor or coach who can help you refine your gifts and to get certified in a modality that will help you enhance your practice and provide value to the work that you do for clients. Other than increasing your skills, it is absolutely essential as a spiritual business owner that you focus on doing your own healing work. You can’t help your clients live their best lives if you are staying stuck in the past and operating from a place of unhealed trauma. You need to dive deep into what’s been holding you back your whole life- whether that be unhealed trauma from your childhood, digging into your past lives, or releasing painful memories and trapped emotions from this lifetime. All of it will help you grow and evolve as a person, and will help you show up in a stronger and more confident way when you speak to your audience and your own clientele. Doing your own healing work will help you become more visible on social media, and will help you find the right people that you are meant to coach and guide (because they are likely just a few steps behind you). Diving into your shadows and into unhealed wounds from the past can feel extremely uncomfortable, but is absolutely essential to becoming the best version of you and becoming successful at what you do.
