We recently connected with Emily LaCivita and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Emily thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
Wedding and event trends have always been an intriguing topic of discussion that gets us all excited to celebrate our special moments. As trends have been ever-changing, I find that they are particularly more diverse in a post Covid era. Couples have adapted to find new and creative ways to customize their event experience that reigns true to their lifestyle and personalities. Here are some of my favorite trends of the moment:
-Elopement and micro weddings have made a big impact on the way couples are celebrating. These more intimate gatherings have allowed for much more honed in details to make events stand out and feel unique to each couple.
-statement bridal fashion has taken a turn with more accessory focused looks, such as a bridal capes, bold dance party accessories, and a secondary reception dress all together. This is such a great way to incorporate multiple styles for the bride that loves a little bit of everything.
-Having close friends and family come early for getting ready and photos in themed attire in lieu of having a traditional wedding party. This has allowed for a more relaxed day with less time restrictions to utilize the most time with your partner, but also provides fun, nontraditional photos with loved ones..
-More emphasis on table scape design and floral heavy details. This fun loving approach stands out amongst your guests and provides so much substance to your photos to memorialize.
-Themed weddings are making a comeback! Now this doesn’t have to mean elaborate and busy but is a creative way to achieve an event design that feels like a luxury experience. Themes I have loved seeing as if late: Modern Disco with all retro touches and vibrate color palettes, Classic Art Deco with Black & White design features, Vintage styled details with film photography, Garden parties with a backyard wedding feel and lots of florals.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Electric love events was born from my love of storytelling and years of venue event management with a big picture perspective. My approach to wedding design lies with each couples unique vision as I feel it’s most important that they feel their personalities represented in their details. Personalized touches go a long way in making a cohesive and well curated event. We provide an array of planning services and design levels to fit each clients needs to ensure couples can feel present as an active participant in their day while all details are in place by our team. I often do find myself on a personal level with my clients which helps them to feel understood and taken care of on their day as I believe trust and transparency plays an integral role in executing someone’s dream day. I am most proud of all the couples I have met and made lasting relationships with along the way as well as my close network of equally talented and trusted industry vendors that make events a success by collaborating on our clients visions .
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
This topic is one of the many lessons that surprised me. When I started my journey, I put so much pressure on myself to put out any and all content on media platforms, sure that in this period of time being good at that would be the driving force in my place in the close knit Cincinnati event industry. There were many a sleepless nights building out the perfect content calendar and creating moving captions to resonate with clients and get noticed. To my surprise, as things really began to happen for me I found that more than half my clients were personally referred to me, proving just how powerful word of mouth still is! I found that investing my energy towards my interactions with clients went a long ways in terms of their confidence and overall stress levels throughout our time planning together. While I still value an aesthetically pleasing website and curated social media feed, I know my expertise in communicating is my best asset to my current and future clients.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
As far as education, I am a true believer that real world experience is the most valuable way to pursue any dream, although it is so hard to come by. I attended traditional college and pursed a bachelors degree while operating on the notion that I would just have to find an opportunity to prove myself post college since there was not a an event planning specific program at the time and I also was not familiar withy local event market and community. Looking back I feel there were so many resources and networking I wish I would have had or known of. My background in city event management led to wedding specific coordination and a career in venue coordination and sales gave me a perspective of all the logistics that go into a wedding or event and really gave me the tools to build my experience and place in our industry. Giving these real world teaching opportunities to young professionals has become a passion project of mine to offer more of moving forward!
