We recently connected with Emily Geisler and have shared our conversation below.
Emily, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success, Hustle & Heart
Success. A sweet word that whispers promises of achievement, fulfillment, and maybe even a little bit of that fame and recognition life. But what’s the magic recipe? Is it raw talent? A lucky break? While those can certainly play a role, the true engine of success is often built on far more fundamental ingredients: grit, a positive attitude, unwavering focus, and relentless dedication. These aren’t just buzzwords; they’re the cornerstones of turning aspirations into reality. I’ve seen this in the mentors I have and in the results of my own efforts.
Grit: The Staying Power When the Going Gets Tough
Grit is the ability to keep going when the going gets tough, to pick yourself up after a fall, and after a fall and after another fall. It’s failing faster and it’s not for the weak of heart. It’s filled with no’s and failed projects but also the ability to learn from your mistakes, and to keep pushing forward even when the finish line seems miles away.
Life throws curveballs, setbacks are inevitable, and motivation can wane. Grit is what fuels you when the initial excitement fades. It’s the stubborn refusal to give up on your dreams, even when everyone else (including your inner critic) is telling you to quit. Cultivating grit isn’t about being superhuman; it’s about developing a growth mindset, embracing challenges as opportunities for learning, and finding intrinsic motivation that sustains you through the inevitable rough patches.
A Positive Attitude: Thoughts Become Things
One of my old bosses put up a quote on our sales wall that said, “Thoughts Become Things.” This was over 15 years ago and I still have that piece of paper. And thoughts definitely do become things. A positive attitude isn’t about blind optimism or ignoring reality. It’s about choosing to see the potential for good, even in difficult situations. It’s about believing in your ability to overcome obstacles and maintaining a sense of hope for the future.
No negativity is a must in my world. And it should be in yours too. A positive attitude is contagious and productive, inspiring those around you and creating a supportive environment. It also fuels resilience, allowing you to bounce back from setbacks more quickly and with greater strength. Think of it as the wind in your sails, propelling you forward even when the seas are choppy. It’s not about denying the storm but about navigating it with a sense of purpose and belief in your ability to reach calmer waters. And just remember when the water gets rough, that a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.
Focus: The Laser Beam of Achievement
In today’s world of constant distractions, focus is a superpower. It’s the ability to tune out the noise, silence the notifications, and laser in on the task at hand. Without focus, our efforts become scattered and diluted, yielding minimal results. Focus allows us to maximize our productivity, deepen our understanding, and make meaningful progress toward our goals. It’s about prioritizing what truly matters and dedicating our energy to those activities that will move the needle. Cultivating focus requires discipline, mindfulness, and the ability to say “no” to anything that doesn’t align with our priorities.
Dedication: The Fuel in the Tank
Dedication is the unwavering commitment to your goals. It’s the fuel that keeps you going when motivation runs low. It’s about showing up consistently, putting in the work, and making sacrifices when necessary. Dedication isn’t just about working hard; it’s about working smart, strategically, and with a clear purpose. It’s about aligning your actions with your values and staying true to your vision, even when the path ahead is challenging. Dedication transforms dreams into tangible realities, turning potential into performance.
Putting it All Together: The Marathon of Success
Grit, a positive attitude, focus, and dedication aren’t isolated traits; they work in synergy, each reinforcing the others. Grit provides the staying power, a positive attitude fuels the journey, focus directs the energy, and dedication provides the consistent effort. Together, they form the foundation upon which true and lasting success is built. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being persistent. It’s about embracing the challenges, learning from the setbacks, and never giving up on the pursuit of your dreams. Cultivate these qualities, nurture them, and watch your potential unfold. The path to success may not be easy, but with grit, a grin, and a bit of hustle it’s certainly within your reach.
Emily, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Born in Dallas, TX and currently residing part time between Joshua Tree Forest, AZ, Conifer, CO, and Las Vegas, NV.
Art, Photography and Sewing have long been a part of my life. I love making beautiful things, art and designing. They were my first loves and it is a joy to be able to use my talents to help bring others dreams to life.
I am a Legend level Wix Partner which is their highest ranking website designer tier and a certified Wix Studio designer. From websites to clothing design, my design work has been featured internationally in numerous publications including, but not limited to; L’Amour Spain, FORD, Donna, Vous Romania, Style Cruz, PBS Television, The Westword, The Wenatchee World, Business World, and a part of countless advertising campaigns across the United States and Internationally as well.
I strive to produce one-of-a-kind work and always use materials that are as ethically sourced as possible. I love to incorporate up-cycling and rescuing unwanted items and giving them new life whenever I can. And the custom websites and content which I create and produce for my clients is built in line with their dream, company branding and voice and designed to help them stand out in today’s busy world.
I got into website design by accident as I was doing a bunch of freelance marketing in a small town in Washington State and my clients were all in need of better looking websites or just even having a website to begin with. So I build out a few websites on Wix and they actually reached out to me and invited me to partner with them. I said yes and haven’t looked back. The partnership has been wonderful and my business has thrived ever since I started working with them. I love that they allow me to maintain complete autonomy over my own business and client relationships which in turn allows me to maintain the one on one relationship and connection I have with my clients. Which I just adore. Because it is that one on one relationship with my clients and really knowing them and what they do so well that allows me to be the best designer for them. I love showcasing my clients and showing off what they do so well and it’s just icing on the cake when they come back and tell me how much more business they have been getting once their new site goes live.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Hands down the quality of my work combined with the reviews from my clients. Customer satisfaction is huge and delivering a quality product every time is very key to my success.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal, mission and passion is helping others to look their very best. And I love what I do every day.
