Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emily Fouts. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think people can be successful in many different ways, but I believe there are key components to creating sustainable success.
Those key components being: Having a strong sense of self, a vision for not only whatever it is you’re wanting to be successful in, but also a strong personal vision & having a positive mindset.
We work so that we can enrich our lives; we don’t work just to work, so understanding what it is you’re working for and what you’re priorities are, can be really helpful in creating that momentum.
Having an abundance mindset is going to lead you in the direction of success every time.
These are definitely things I came to know over the course of my career and self development. I started doing the work before I opened my business, Elevated Beauty Esthetics, because I wanted to set myself up with the best possible outcome. I listened to inspirational people, read books, dived deep on who I am and what I want my future to look like & what I wanted to offer.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
So I’ve been a licensed Esthetician since 2014. I was an employee for 7 of those years; I’m an active duty Army spouse and I couldn’t even picture doing my own thing until I couldn’t resist the call anymore & I chose to make it happen. I wanted to offer elevated self care to my clients and expand their mind, offering understanding that self care is deeply important.
Not only was it a mission for me to offer those things to my clients, but I also wanted to be a mentor for other Estheticians and share some enlightenment that I experienced. So I created a Podcast (Elevated Beauty Podcast) in 2021.
After I got comfortable in my business and was working on my podcast I decided I wanted to expand & created an apparel line for Estheticians, @shopcrypticskin. So much of what I do is in service of other Estheticians because I want others to experience this creative freedom and be inspired.
Throughout this journey of entrepreneurship I came to realize I wasn’t seeing the type of thinking, as explained earlier, being talked about or held as a piece of importance in the place of entrepreneurship for the beauty industry.
So I want to help other entrepreneurs and beauty industry professionals do the self work and understand how vital mindset and vision is to their success.
That’s why I created “The Esthetician Guide”, a comprehensive guide to creating a successful business as a solo esthetician. A manual for beauty pros to unlock their potential and learn how to create freedom in their career.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I opened my business in a town where I knew nobody and had no client base. Some may say this is a stupid thing to do but I saw it as a new start.
I didn’t allow myself to view failure as an option because when you allow a place for lack to exist, it allows it to happen.
The formula that I created for myself works. When you expect good things, you’re working from a place of abundance and that attracts people.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Really valuing the people that are already walking through your door because when you make good impressions on people, they will tell others about you. That’s how you create a community, you really foster those relationships with your clients and they’ll be excited to tell other people about you. Think about it, if there’s something that you love, you tell your friends about it don’t you? It works the same way
