We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emily Esparza. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emily below.
Emily, appreciate you joining us today. Do you manage your own social media?
I manage my own company, I first started off by posting my photos online on my personal Instagram and one of my friends encouraged me to post my photos online publicly. I was skeptical at first but went for it anyway back in November 2020 around when covid hit. My social media page is very random, I like to post photos of what I enjoy or what I think is photogenic. In a way, it’s how I see the beauty in place, items, and people. At the moment I am doing everything by myself, I am posting on my Instagram daily, and I’m trying to make time to do more TikTok since that is very popular today. I wish I had more time to work on my branding but being a full-time college student can take up most of my time. I would like to have my own team to manage but who knows where the future will take me. At this moment I am just going with the flow of things.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
It all started when I got my first camera, it was my mother’s actually but it was just sitting in the closet collecting dust so I took it. Before I would take photos on my smartphone but then started learning about photography on a DSLR camera and it opened a whole new world for me. A lot of fo photographers have their own muse and/ or theme but my photos are very random and unique. My focus is on my life in San Diego and sharing my experiences and what I see living in San Diego. I love to make friends and meet new people and I see photography as my outlet and establishing connections with other photographers and or people.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being creative is I am able to express my creativity to the world. There is always room for improvement, I am learning and growing as I continue this journey. I also love to gain inspiration from other artists and photographers and relate to their work and even render my own version or my own feelings on that certain idea.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to put my perspective out there and create a connection with my audience. Photography speaks to people, when I discovered and understood photographic visual language, it moves the audience all with visuals.
