We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emily Beach. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emily below.
Emily, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
I’m seeing a renewed interest in quality- made goods from the past. Customers are finding renewed appreciation for items that were made better than their counterparts of today. There is a joy in reusing furniture, clothes and mechanical pieces from before their time. Up- cycling and the sustainability of giving pieces from the past a new life is becoming more popular.
Emily, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I grew up going to estates sales and antique shops with my mom in search of quality furniture and home decor pieces. When it came time to decorate my home I knew just where to find vintage, unique pieces. Now I love finding timeless, trendy, vintage home decor, staging them and showing people how they can be used in their home. I’m most proud of the quality and diversity of the items I find as well as the attention put into not only their appearance, but also their functionality.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think it is primarily because of the extra care and attention that goes into seeking out the best and most unique pieces at varying price points that all of my customers can afford. I also think people appreciate the effort to clean, refurbish and make functional again everything offered.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
First I would say branding myself. I made sure that I had a logo, business cards and social media presence. I had just rented a booth at a new vintage shop and I needed to get myself outside the shop to meet people in person. So I participated in several local vintage shows where I had the chance to stage and share my collection of vintage items.
