Emily , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Yes! At Brandakin Social Media, we focus on developing quality, meaningful relationships with our clients. I want to be a cheerleader for my clients through their entrepreneurial journey – every step of the way. I want to be there for the celebrating of successes business wise but also personally. It’s extremely important to me that my clients feel that I am more than a service provider. For example, when my client had her baby all she had to do was text me and I was immediately on top of it and taking over multiple different tasks to ensure that she didn’t have to worry. When my client completed her first Ironman, I sent a bouquet of flowers to congratulate her.
These are the type of things that I think set me apart from others in my industry. My clients are not “just” clients. I pride myself on making true connections with each and every one of them.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Emily Avdem and I am the founder of Brandakin Social Media. I studied at NDSU and graduated with a major in Marketing and minor in Communications. During my senior year of college I dabbled in providing virtual assistant/social media management services to various businesses and really enjoyed it. However, I never imagined that I could make it into my full-time business. Luckily, my dad did. He told me that I should try the entrepreneurial route after college and give it my best. I loved the idea of it as I truly couldn’t imagine myself working at a large corporate agency.
I’ve always had a creative spirit and dove into “side hustles” head first. For years I ran my personal blog, personal YouTube channel, and personal Instagram account. I managed these items all through school and never missed a chance to figure out ways to grow them. I truly feel like that creative and determined part of me paved the way to becoming a full-time owner of Brandakin Social Media.
Brandakin Social Media provides social media management and virtual assistant services to business owners. From full social media management, to virtual assistant operations, to strategy solution calls, you’ll find a variety of options in working with us. Our goal is to pivot with your business needs to best help you maximize your social media presence. Our goal is to meet you where you are, support you as you grow, and cheer you on along the way. Customer service is Brandakin’s central pillar – we find great joy in providing maximum support as we work with our clients. Our services include but are not limited to: full social media management, audits, strategy solutions, content creation, customer service management, and email management.
So many small businesses are struggling with wearing too many “hats”. We provide the help they so desperately need when it comes to social media. By taking over that part of the business it allows them to focus on other areas without all the stress.
I am very proud of the business I have built in such a short amount of time. I am most proud of the connections I have made with current clients, past clients, and potential clients. I am honored that past clients always feel comfortable to reach back out if they need help or have questions. I am grateful that potential clients don’t hesitate to contact me about services. I am forever thankful for the current clients that I get to serve.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective growth strategy as it comes to clientele has been word of mouth and I believe that is because of the meaningful connections I create with my clients! They are so willing to refer me to others and give glowing reviews. This has allowed me to grow my business exponentially. I think it’s so important to serve your clients well and go above and beyond because it will always be worth it.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media has been a topic of my day to day life for years now! I have grown my social media audience by focusing on a few things: consistency, quality, and connection. I consistently use my branded colors and fonts, consistently post various content forms multiple times a week, consistently engage with others daily. I post quality content that includes valuable information for followers trying to learn about social media strategies. I try to connect with my followers by commenting on their posts, ensuring any comment is replied to, and interacting with followers in direct messages.
These consistent actions have helped me grow my platform organically which then not only increases the number of followers but increases the amount of warm leads. I think it’s important for business owners to remember that growing your follower count is important but it does not directly equal success. If your follower number is high but less than half of those followers aren’t your ideal customer – chances are you won’t be seeing any conversions. Focusing on growing your following organically ensures that you’re reaching the right people!
