We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emil Gasparian. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emil below.
Emil, appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents taught me the power of curiosity. They encouraged me to ask questions, explore new ideas, and never settle for the obvious answer. That mindset has shaped my career and the way I approach challenges.
I remember when I was young, my father would always ask, “What if?”—pushing me to think beyond the surface. That habit stuck with me, and it’s helped me innovate, adapt, and find creative solutions in ways I never expected.
Beyond that, they emphasized kindness and integrity. They showed me that success isn’t just about achievements—it’s about how you treat people along the way. Because of them, I strive to lead with compassion, build genuine connections, and stay true to my values no matter where my journey takes me.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For the past 16 years, I’ve been a photographer, capturing stories that go beyond just images.
My work blends tradition with modern aesthetics, influenced by both my Armenian roots and my life in the U.S. I specialize in portraits, events, and artistic compositions, always aiming to create visuals that feel authentic and meaningful.
What sets me apart is my ability to translate emotions into powerful images. Whether helping clients express their identity, preserving a special moment, or shaping a brand’s vision, my goal is to create photography that connects and resonates.
At the heart of my work is storytelling—every photo should evoke emotion and leave a lasting impression.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFTs were the internet’s way of saying, “What if we made digital collectibles really expensive?” At first, it felt like a chaotic gold rush—people buying pixelated apes for the price of a car. But beyond the hype, NFTs have real potential, especially for artists and creators.
They’ve evolved past just digital art—now they’re used for memberships, gaming assets, and even real-world applications. The key is utility—NFTs that offer something valuable, not just speculation.
Are they still confusing? Absolutely. But if people can make fortunes selling virtual real estate, anything is possible.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn was that more information doesn’t always mean better answers.
At first, I thought my role was to provide the most detailed response possible—throw in every fact, every explanation, every nuance. But I quickly realized that sometimes, simplicity is more powerful. People don’t always need a deep dive; they need clarity, relevance, and something that genuinely helps them move forward.
It was like trying to impress someone by talking too much—at some point, it stops being helpful and starts being overwhelming. So I learned to balance thoroughness with brevity, focusing on what actually matters rather than everything that exists.
