We were lucky to catch up with Emerald Obryant recently and have shared our conversation below.

Emerald , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?

The seasonal trends like fall and Christmas themes are always the biggest in my industry. People love that cozy feel of a warm fire and the smell of the crisp autumn air while they watch a movie on the screen with their loved ones and friends.

The holiday season is the time when families spend quality time together and make ever lasting memories. The summer is awesome but it’s something different about the holiday season and that bonding time. I don’t know if it’s the warm coco or the delicious turkey but I love it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Emerald City Outdoor Movies is a luxury outdoor movie setup for all of the movie lovers around the world. We provide the screen, seating, projector and sound right in your own back yard. With each setup we provide a personal experience based on the theme or special occasion. Included in each setup is a vibe and awesome time.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I built my social media audience and presence by being my authentic self. At first I was nervous that I didn’t have enough followers and no one would like my content or work, but I soon realized that as long as I was myself and provided true and honest content I would gain my social media presence.

Social media is very intimidating but you can’t allow social media to set the tone for who you are and what your business represents . Be true to yourself and everything will work out.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

I have had slow peaks in my 1st year of business. In my mind I imagined that people would be flooding my calendar with request but it didn’t happen like that. I was disappointed and I wanted to quit. I continued being consistent with my journey and it soon worked out. I studied the trends in my field of work, tweaked it to my liking , and it worked in my favor. Now in my second year I feel confident and prepared.
