Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emer Kinsella. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Emer, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I’ve had the privilege of channeling my strengths into impactful pursuits in my career, and there’s a particular initiative within my company Emersion Music that stands out as a source of pride. This initiative involves bringing new music to new spaces, with a focus on the immersive journey of introducing experiential live concerts to the public realm. One project that stands out is the transformative and immersive live concert experience at the Culver Steps in downtown Culver City last September. As the CEO and Artistic Director of Emersion Music, I curated this unique event, utilizing the steps and plaza to bring together live string musicians and movement artists. The performance, designed as an exploration of community reconnection post-pandemic, vividly embodied the concept of renovation in our lives, cities, and societies. It’s a project that exemplifies our commitment to creating distinctive, meaningful experiences through the universal language of music. First and foremost, it stems from my genuine passion for music and community engagement. I have always believed in the power of music to bring people together and create meaningful connections. This project has allowed me to combine my love for music with my desire to create a platform for new music to be accessed easily and for artists to showcase their talent. The journey of bringing live experiential concerts to the public realm has been both challenging and inspiring. We faced logistical hurdles, from obtaining permits to organizing the logistics of outdoor concerts. However, our passion and determination to make it happen fueled us to overcome these challenges. What has made this project particularly meaningful is our collaboration with other art forms. We have worked with movement artists, choreographers, and live string players to create immersive experiences that transcend traditional boundaries. Months of hard work and dedication have gone into crafting each performance, from composing music to choreographing movements and thinking about the interactions within the space. But beyond the music itself, what I cherish the most about this project is the sense of unity it fosters. Building a team of dedicated individuals who share our passion for innovation has been incredibly rewarding. This project is about more than just entertainment. It is about enriching lives, fostering community, and sparking conversations that matter. It celebrates empowerment, growth, and collective effort while shedding light on topics like isolation and the need for societal rebuilding. Our performances have become a platform for telling people’s stories and creating a profound connection between the audience and the art. Looking to the future, our goal is to expand our reach further by collaborating with new partners, organizations, and artists. We want to reach new audiences and explore innovative ways to bring music and art to the public. Our next project ‘Reconstruction: Harmonizing our Tomorrow’ will be returning to the Culver Steps in 2024. This project is my personal voice, my way of making a difference in the world through music and community.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My artistic journey is a multifaceted exploration rooted in a lifelong passion for music. Growing up studying the violin and delving into composition, I desired to break free from traditional boundaries and create impactful art. This led me to establish Emersion Music with a distinct mission—to foster community connection and craft transformative experiences. My entry into the music industry was fueled by a deep love for the craft. At Emersion Music, we offer a range of services that revolve around the emotive power of music. As a composer, I specialize in creating music for film, television, live dance works, and concerts. I bring a unique perspective and a dedication to capturing the essence of the human experience in my compositions.
Simultaneously, I wear the artist identity of EMER, where I perform on the violin and sing with the Emersion ensemble; joined by Mehmet Aydin, Mark Bassett, and Hakeem Holloway. This fusion of roles allows me to explore diverse avenues of artistic expression and bring unique narratives to life.
Whether scoring for films, enhancing dance performances, or crafting original compositions for live concerts, I seek to evoke emotions and tell compelling stories through my work. My music is a personal journey, a fusion of emotions and storytelling that resonates on a profound level.
As a violinist, I strive to create enchanting and captivating experiences, both as a solo artist and within chamber music settings. My music reflects my personal journey and explores the nuanced aspects of mood and atmosphere.
Through Emersion Music, I aim to leave a lasting impact. What I am most proud of is our ability to connect deeply with the community and contribute positively to the world of art and culture. For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want them to know that my work is an authentic journey through the human experience. Whether you’re seeking a composer for your next project, a live experiential performance, or the opportunity to hear my new works, I am dedicated to creating transformative experiences through music.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely, my mission is to utilize the powerful medium of music to connect with and inspire people on a profound emotional level. I aspire to foster a sense of community where shared experiences, struggles, and triumphs are not only acknowledged but celebrated.
Through my compositions, performances, and artistic direction, I aim to tell meaningful stories, evoke strong emotions, and create immersive experiences that engage and resonate with my audience. I want to create a space where people can find solace and connection by recognizing the shared human experiences embedded in my music.
Beyond individual expression, my goal is to contribute positively to the world of art and culture, leaving a lasting impact on those who engage with my work. I believe in the transformative power of music to bring people together, acknowledge their journeys, and spark conversations that unite us in our collective human experience.
