We were lucky to catch up with Ember Henderson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ember, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Embracing risks is a valuable endeavor, not only for artists but for everyone seeking personal growth. In 2012, I reached a point where my dissatisfaction with my day job became overwhelming. The thought of adhering to someone else’s schedule and contributing to a company with values and morals that didn’t align with mine made me feel disheartened. I realized that by continuing on that path, I was compromising a significant part of myself that embodies fearlessness. With this realization, I made the courageous decision to quit my job, despite the uncertainty of where my income would come from and how I would find my footing. I didn’t have a backup plan or the safety net of family to rely on if things took a turn for the worse. Nevertheless, I felt compelled to take the leap. Looking back, I am immensely grateful that I trusted the universe to support me, as it has consistently done so. I hold deep appreciation for this truth and for the version of myself in the past who had the faith and courage to take that leap of faith.
Ember, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Throughout my life, I’ve been blessed with a creative spirit that has guided me towards exploring the magical and mystical aspects of existence. The mysteries of the universe have always held a special allure for me, and I find myself naturally drawn to the intricate connections between science, consciousness, and spirituality. Yet, amidst all these interests, I cherish one fundamental truth — I am a human being, ever-evolving and embracing the ebb and flow of life’s diverse elements and moods. In the grand tapestry of existence, it is the art of humanity itself that captivates and inspires me the most.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
At the core of my creative journey lies a profound aspiration and purpose: to continually challenge myself in releasing negativity and embracing a life free from struggle. With each step, I endeavor to surrender to the universe, knowing that it will always catch and nurture me when I take risks. It fills me with immense gratitude to witness how my courage is consistently met with rewards. Everything seems to fall perfectly into place when I follow my intuition, maintain a state of gratitude, and actively pursue personal growth, guided by an inner wisdom that feels divinely inspired.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Regular paradigm shifts hold significant value as they contribute to the intricate puzzle of personal growth and understanding. Throughout life’s journey, it becomes essential to unlearn various lessons that no longer serve us. One particular lesson I have focused on unlearning is the belief that, amidst the chaos, noise, and conflicts of the world, I must always take a side or form an opinion, even on significant issues. However, I’ve come to realize that it is not mandatory to have an opinion on everything. Often, it is more beneficial to take a step back, observe, and refrain from engaging in unnecessary battles. While fighting may have been emphasized as important, it is equally crucial to acknowledge that our perceptions are clouded by our differences and judgments, preventing us from fully understanding what others may be experiencing. This newfound understanding has deepened my appreciation for the concept of “picking your battles,” reminding me to choose wisely and prioritize what truly matters.
