We recently connected with Elyse Flynn Meyer and have shared our conversation below.
Elyse, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
One of the most defining risks I took was starting my own marketing consultancy in an industry where leadership tables were, and often still are, dominated by men. At the time, I had a strong career, a growing reputation, and a clear understanding of how marketing could drive real business outcomes. What I did not have was a clear roadmap for how a woman-led firm would be received in rooms where decisions were traditionally made by long-established networks. Walking away from the perceived safety of an established role meant betting on my expertise, my judgment, and my willingness to navigate skepticism head-on.
The early days required more resilience than I anticipated. I often found myself needing to prove credibility before strategy could even be discussed. There were moments when being underestimated was subtle, and others when it was unmistakable. Rather than trying to fit into an existing mold, I focused on building trust through clarity, preparation, and results. I chose to lead with substance, data, and consistency, believing that long-term credibility would outlast short-term doubt.
That risk ultimately became the foundation of my work today. The business grew, the client relationships deepened, and the firm earned recognition not because it followed convention, but because it delivered impact. More importantly, it allowed me to create space for other women to see leadership as accessible and sustainable, even in industries that have not historically made room for them. Taking that risk reshaped my career, but it also reshaped how I define success: not just by growth, but by the ability to lead with confidence, integrity, and purpose.

Elyse, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Elyse Flynn Meyer, Founder and President of Prism Global Marketing Solutions, a marketing and growth consultancy focused on helping organizations turn strategy into measurable business outcomes. My path into marketing was shaped by early experiences inside organizations where marketing was often treated as a support function rather than a growth driver. Over time, I saw a clear gap between strategy, execution, and revenue, which ultimately led me to build a firm centered on clarity, accountability, and impact.
Prism partners with B2B organizations across many industries, including manufacturing, agriculture, professional services, technology, hospitality, and leadership development. Our work spans go-to-market strategy, inbound marketing, RevOps, and marketing automation. Regardless of industry, the core challenge remains the same. Leaders want marketing that is aligned, measurable, and connected to business outcomes, not just activity.
What sets our work apart is a disciplined, practical approach. We prioritize strategy over tactics, simplify complexity, and build scalable, repeatable systems. Technology plays an important role, but only when it supports better decisions, stronger alignment, and long-term growth.
I am most proud of the trust we have built with our clients and the longevity of those relationships. Many partnerships extend through multiple stages of growth because of a shared commitment to transparency, results, and collaboration. I am also proud to lead a woman-led firm in traditionally male-dominated industries while staying grounded in substance over self-promotion. My work is rooted in partnership. I care deeply about helping leaders make confident decisions, build strong teams, and create marketing that reflects both who they are and where they are going.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation was consistency and intentional presence over time. I chose to be involved in organizations and communities that genuinely matter to our business and to our clients, rather than trying to be everywhere at once. That involvement created meaningful relationships and a deeper understanding of the challenges leaders face.
Speaking engagements and thought leadership followed naturally from that foundation. I focused on sharing practical insights rooted in real experience, not theory, and on contributing value before asking for attention. Over time, that combination of community involvement, credible perspectives, and delivered results built trust, which ultimately became the strongest driver of reputation.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We keep in touch with clients through intentional, consistent communication that prioritizes clarity and follow through. Regular check-ins, transparent reporting, and shared planning ensure there are no surprises and that progress is always visible. We believe accountability builds trust, so we are clear about goals, ownership, and outcomes from the start.
Brand loyalty is fostered by showing up consistently and delivering on what we commit to. When clients know they will be heard, informed, and supported with the same level of care over time, the relationship moves beyond a vendor dynamic and becomes a true partnership.
