Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Elstabo Artist. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
ELSTABO, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I participated in a group art show in Florida while working and living in New York. At that time, I was conflicted about attending the show, considering I didn’t have enough money to travel and take off from my day job. Days before the event, I was given a notice from my job that I was being terminated. So, feeling defiant, I booked the flight, car, and hotel room on my credit card with no backup resources to pay it off. I took the chance, reminding myself I would make the most of the trip and enjoy myself. The event was exciting and filled with art lovers of all kinds. That night, I met two college women who invited me for drinks. We ended up at a night club and partied till the next morning. After recovering from my hangover the next day, I returned to the event and met an art collector. We spoke briefly about commissioning an original art piece, and I freely gave him my information. Once I returned to New York and feeling re-energized, I eagerly started the sad process of looking for a new job. Then, one day, I looked in the mailbox and was completely surprised by what had arrived. A personal check addressed to me at an unbelievable value of ten thousand dollars for a commission art piece. Since that day, I stopped worrying about money and focused more on having a good time.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started my art career as a commercial illustrator, I created logos and drawings for many clients in various industries.
My focus switched to the fine arts industry in the early 2000s, and I made headway in the erotic art world. Some publications of my work can be seen at Best of Erotic Art (EAL/Eroarteurope), Aphrodisia: Art of the Female Form (Aristata Publishing), and “The World’s Greatest Erotic Art of Today” (Erotic Signature).
I am a constant exhibitor at art galleries like DirtyShow in Detroit, Nude Nite in Orlando, and the Seatle erotic Art Festival.
My Fine Arts work focuses mainly on the female figure, but when it comes to what the clients want, I wear my professional hat to create whatever they require. I work in traditional and digital mediums.
Photography is my favorite pastime, so if you like to take pictures, I am here to play.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Disconnecting from the world and going into the land of imagination is the greatest thing an artist can do. That is where an artist can tap into the subconscious and pull from it what feeds their craft.
That is also where he can solve problems and find alternate views on complex understandings. Once an open-minded artist discovers their creative process, they can connect spiritually into soul. The most rewarding thing I have gained is the feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment.
I am never bored.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Tax breaks.
An artist’s career can only be successful by a good economy; if no one has money to buy art, then an artist will starve.
Tax breaks can help give artists a fighting chance when they don’t have patrons or funding.
