Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Elona Krasavtseva. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Elona , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I became a performer when I was already 33 years old. Prior to that I had a regular job for about 7 years and i ran a business in the area of events management and Investor Relations. The sarcasm of the situation is that it all was happening in Russia. When I was a young graduate my country Russia at that point chose a democratic way of development and I was involved with an American company helping my country building free market economy. By the time I turned 30, it all has changed, and the Investor Relations industry was not needed any more. The state became the only owner and an investor for most of the companies. So I changed my career to what I wanted to do for a long time – music performance. And, yes, I was questioning myself if it was too late to pursue a creative career, especially in the performing arts. Most of us do not become more beautiful as we get older, and that was my major concern. My other concern was if I would be able to keep a nice clear voice through the years. To overcome my second concern I learned various vocal techniques that help keeping your voice young and healthy for ages. On the other hand if started earlier, I would have used my natural voice with less training and develop as a singer/songwriter. So, there are pros and contras.
Elona , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a classical singer, I perform in concerts, theater productions, at fundraising events, private and corporate events, weddings, jubilee events and other occasions. I help create a festive atmosphere at the event, help people experience the nature of a human voice, uplift their souls, feel harmony and joy when they listed to the live music performance.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I was raised in Kyiv, a beautiful Ukrainian capital, and I left Kyiv when I was 19. Then I used to live in Moscow, Russia, which I left for the US for good when the war between Russia and Ukraine started in 2014. My goal now is to do anything possible to stop the dictator in Moscow and to help Ukraine keep its freedom and keep its people alive, happy and healthy. Help those, who lost their homes because of the war. That is why my main events of this summer were fundraisers and concerts to attract people attention to the suffering of Ukrainian people.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
It is very rewarding if you can help a certain person or a family because many people know you as an artist and would be willing to help if you ask.
