We were lucky to catch up with Elo Copeland recently and have shared our conversation below.
Elo, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I’ve taken to date is pursuing Stand-Up Comedy! I will say the risk was worth the taking lol. Not only did I have to overcome the fear of public speaking but also making people laugh outside of my family and friends. I’m very proud of myself because it’s been 2 years and I’m still here, sharing stages with great comedians before me and here now. It’s amazing how life brings you to a path you had no idea taking.

Elo, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started working as an actress in 2018 in Atlanta, GA. I’ve been fortunate to work on Short Films, Series, Skits, and Commercials on The CW, Daily Wire, Amazon Prime, Tubi and YouTube. I am constantly working on my craft in Acting Classes, Open Mics, Improv Classes, reading books, and writing. I began Stand-Up Comedy two years ago after hanging around local comedians for a few years.
I just competed in the Monologue Competition for 2024 PVIFF – Peachtree Village Film Festival. I’ve also competed in the Palm Springs International Comedy Festival in Palms Springs, CA this month. These events are what are most proud of this year.
I am very grateful for my supporters online and personally known to me.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I’ve had to unlearn is “everybody can’t win”. In reality, my reality, everything I set out to do and complete is my win. I have taken many losses, but I am a winner in my world.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience is a formula of consistency and being yourself. Literally, just being yourself is ENOUGH. Figure you out and let the world see.
