Alright, ELLIE AND SASS thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
When we decided to take a leap of faith and create our vision of bringing a one- stop- shop for all things beauty to Venice Beach, Sarah and I thought, “Well. the name will be the easiest part”. We were SO WRONG! We went back and forth for weeks trying to come up with a name that would represent our vision. Then we thought, our VISION is US. With almost 10 years of friendship under our belts, we realized the name should be synonymous with our nicknames for each other. Elizabeth a.k.a Ellie and Sarah a.k.a Sass. It just flowed and felt right. So we painted it on a small wooden board, hung it up and the rest is history.
ELLIE AND SASS , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We created ELLIE AND SASS 6 years ago because we found there was a real need in Venice and the Westside of LA for a place that men and women could get their beauty services accomplished in one place. We specialize in lashes, brows, facials and nail services. Our attention to detail is unmatched, we treat each client with thoughtfulness and care. Our company motto is quality not quantity. We are most proud of our team for continuing to hone their skills and bring the best possible service to their clients on a daily basis.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
It’s no secret that most small businesses struggled through nearly 3 years of the pandemic. That was our biggest hurdle to date. We could not be more proud of our perseverance and strength as a team and as a business to come out on the other side. Our community has remained extremely loyal and have continued to support our small business. It is no small feat and we remain extremely thankful to still be standing and providing services for 6 years and counting.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
We have had to do very little marketing. We have grown and garnered clients from mainly word and mouth. We are so grateful for our regulars, their friends or family and friends of friends/family. Nothing speaks more than a raving recommendation from a trusted friend. Thank you to all that have done so!
