We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elle Jenkins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elle below.
Hi Elle, thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
Ever since I experienced my twin brother’s passing in February. I’ve always vowed to myself to always go out of my way to help others to make sure they are safe and well taken care of. Life can end in a blink of an eye and I would like to be remembered as someone who cares very deeply about my friends and community, I try to bring creativity into my life every day because, without it, I don’t feel whole. It’s important to understand that we are all creative in our own different ways, and I hope that I can help people realize their true potential of who they are as a person and how to expand your mind outside of the box.

Elle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got my creative push a couple of years ago when I found my love for photography. It was something that I felt good about and was comfortable with a camera in my hands. I was fortunate enough to have my friends model for me and be my support system. Soon after feeling like I had a good run with digital photography, I wanted to bring my creations to life which is how I found out about Cyanotypes (cyanotypes were once used to make blueprints and was the first way to produce a photographic image). I started making Cyanotypes in 2018 and have since been making them. I have also always had a big love for fashion and wanted to delve into that as well. I started making clothes out of scrap fabric and eventually made my first dress! To top it off, I also am a personal stylist full time and am pursuing that more and more in my career

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main passion is to bring color and creativity into my life and others because we don’t have a long time on this earth and it’s important to spread joy and learn from others in creative and inspiring ways. I personally believe teamwork makes the dream work, we learn and grow from our community and succeed when we work together.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative?
The most rewarding thing about being an artist is that I get to express myself exactly how I want to, and people love that side of me. It is always a pleasure to see the work before you that you created with your own two hands and a mind that always wants to create. This is a recipe for success. doing what you feel is right and being yourself. There is no right way to do art and be creative, Rome was not built in a day. We are always learning and growing with others around us with whom we find inspiration. It is a challenge to try to get your work out there which can feel discouraging, but plunging into something like that is the only way you will get out of your comfort zone!
