Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Elle De Freitas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Elle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think it takes a ton of grit, support, confidence, risk, empathy, self awareness and decisiveness.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am founder and CEO of Wonderkind. We are a design, photography and social media studio out of Austin, TX. I have a team of 30 gals all between the ages of 20-30. We are typically working with small, consumer owned brands to grow them on social media, improve their design presence or equip them with assets they need to improve their marketing/retail strategies.
I am so proud to see how large my team has grown in the 2.5 years we’ve been in business. I want consumers, potential customers, current clients, etc. to know just how hard we’ve/I’ve work to provide a unique environment that these young women can thrive in and just how well positioned my team is to help potential and current clients grow online and in-person.
How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my co-founder, Cally, when I was starting my first business called Vegan Wonder. I needed a logo design and a few design assets and I had met someone that introduced me to her. I was her first freelance client, as at the time she was full time as a designer with a winery in Washington. We sat down, I gave her my pitch, what I was trying to do and why and she designed my logo, 3-4 weeks later. I loved it, no edits and we began to work together, mainly as friends. She supported my business by helping with little design things and we became very good friends.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Our current clients are our best sources of new clients. I make customer service an equal importance to quality of work. I want customers (clients) to feel heard, supported, valued and loved by my team and I. I know our work is quality, but if we are crap to work with, they won’t refer us.
But really, this isn’t like a strategic sales channel, I literally love and value these brands so much, as a consumer and as the owner of Wonderkind, so treating them well is a priority. If they refer us, great, if they don’t, great. I am thankful for the relationship first!
