We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Elle Christina a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Elle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
As an author, my first “real” payment was during the fall of 2016 as part of an independent book store located in Florida. Even though my first book has been out since 2012, I didn’t make any money with my books until I made some significant changes and started to learn to do the business. Which I’m still learning.

Elle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I write books that are in drama, suspense, and thriller genres; with a twist of reality surrealism. I currently have 4 books available of which 3 are part of a series entitled Bittersweet. The stand alone is entitled The Unwed Wife. There are over a dozen more books in the works and I’ll release them when I feel the time is right.
I write books that engulf you and spit you out. It’s quite the experience if I may say so myself. I love to shock readers, it’s the best part of the experience.
I’ve been writing stories and poetry since I was in middle school. In so many ways I think becoming a writer was always part of my journey, even if I didn’t realize it at first. Now, I see so much potential in it that I encourage others to find a way to implement a written product in their creative career.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Respect the creative, life as you know it would not exist if it weren’t for the mind of a creative. We create more than just entertainment, we create food dishes and clothes and so much more!

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I think if you can create something of value that would be a collectors item using NFTs, then you should have at least one in your repertoire.
I think NFTs allow other creatives outside of the traditional artist, to garner their creations in a way that’s unique and impenetrable. I’m not sure how many authors have made a book as an NFT, but I’m willing to bet there’s at least 1 out there.
