Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Elle Brewster. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Elle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
Finding my first paying client was a case of being in the right place at the right time.
During a routine call to set up health insurance, I casually mentioned I manage social media for small businesses. The representative, let’s call her Sarah, perked up and revealed that she ran her own life insurance company. Sarah’s business lacked a social media presence, and she saw the potential in my services. We connected after the call, and I helped her revamp her Facebook page.
Landing that first client – not through friends or family, but through sheer initiative – was a huge confidence booster. The excitement was electric! It validated my skills and fueled my passion to help other businesses thrive online.
That initial project with Sarah not only yielded my first paychecks, but it also opened doors. Impressed with the results, Sarah even introduced me to a friend who owned an acupuncture company – a client who stayed with me for a year and a half! It all started with a conversation – a testament to the power of putting yourself out there and the unexpected opportunities that can arise.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a Social Media Manager, Social Media Manager, and your new Business bestie.
My journey began in the fast-paced world of restaurant management, where helping others wasn’t just a job, but a passion. And yet, I still craved a creative outlet and the opportunity to empower others on a larger scale. “Right Girl Media” (RGM), born in April 2020 (yes, during the pandemic!), became that outlet.
Many brilliant entrepreneurs struggle with the “how” of building an online presence. That’s where RGM steps in, helping “solopreneurs”, business owners, Georgia attorneys, and even fellow social media managers to overcome that struggle.
I love empowering women, in particular, to confidently build their dream brands. Why women? Because I believe we’re stronger together. But I don’t discriminate! RGM welcomes all creatives, entrepreneurs, and solopreneurs who are ready to take their online presence to new heights
We empower creatives to take their online game to the next level through:
Strategic content creation: Eye-catching posts and stories that resonate with your target audience.
Engaging community management: Fostering meaningful interactions with your followers.
Data-driven growth strategies: Utilizing analytics to track progress and optimize campaigns.
Beyond the individual success of my clients, I’m passionate about building a community that provides real support. That’s why I created The Creative CEO Society, a supportive network for Social Media Managers to learn, collaborate, and share experiences – all without breaking the bank! It’s a space with none of the gatekeeping or hefty price tags commonly found in the industry.
Some might ask what sets me apart and to that, I would say a few things. I am passionate in the way I genuinely love empowering others to reach their full potential. While at the same time, I can also relate to others’ experiences, being someone who has been in the same situations and experienced many of the same challenges. I am also someone who focuses on the community by creating a support space for growth and collaboration.
I’m most proud of the connections I’ve made along the way and my ability to empower and guide other entrepreneurs. Whether you’re just starting your brand, a seasoned entrepreneur, or a social media manager yourself, RGM is here to help you succeed.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for RGM has been a powerful combination of referrals and showcasing our expertise on Instagram.
Recommendations from happy clients hold immense weight. They speak to our character, work ethic, and results. We have even established a referral program within “The Creative CEO Society”, which has been a fantastic way to nurture this valuable source further.
As far as Instagram is concerned, as social media managers, it’s crucial to practice what we preach! Our Instagram presence showcases our capabilities and serves as a living portfolio. Potential clients can see our content creation skills, community engagement strategies, and overall brand voice.
While these methods have been successful, I’m always looking to expand our reach.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
About two years into running RGM, I hit a wall. The feeling of overwhelm was suffocating – juggling clients, managing growth, and questioning everything. Back then, I held onto the belief that true dedication meant pushing through any hardship, even if it meant sacrificing my well-being. In my mind, giving up on RGM felt like giving up on my dreams.
Looking back, I realize this “never give up” mentality almost did me in. The turning point came when I considered throwing in the towel, but thankfully, something else clicked. I took a step back and re-evaluated. Instead of blind determination, I focused on finding a sustainable path forward. I prioritized tasks, delegated where possible, and learned to say no to projects that drained my energy. It wasn’t giving up; it was adapting!
Fast forward to today, reaching my 4th year in business has been incredibly rewarding. The knowledge and experience I’ve accumulated have solidified my confidence. I genuinely know what I’m doing, and I see the direct impact my work has on my clients’ online success. The key takeaway? Persistence is crucial, but it needs to be paired with smart strategies and self-care. Sometimes, the most important step towards your dreams is taking a step back to find a more balanced and sustainable approach.
