We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ella Norris, MSM CLC a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ella thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission is to connect with and support women who desire to leave their own mark of success on the world as they manage various personal & professional roles. I work to fulfill this mission daily as a life coach. Shortly after becoming a wife and mother nearly 15 years ago, I found myself completely lacking personal motivation. I became comfortable hiding behind the roles of wife and new mom. I subsequently allowed my personal needs and goals to shrink day by day. While my family means the world to me, I had to find a way to regain my sense of self. I soon realized that if I allowed myself to slip away while building up my husband and children that I would eventually build up loads of resentment. So, I vowed to be a committed wife and mother while reigniting my passion for personal achievements. After meeting and talking with other wives/mothers facing similar emotions, I felt compelled to always work in a way that I could make a solid impact on those who may be experiencing what I had to overcome.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Firstly, I am so grateful for the opportunity to be interviewed & share my story! At one point in time, I would think of myself as what some would call a “serial entrepreneur.” Then I realized that I am simply a woman in business with multiple interests. Embracing this truth about myself helped me to free my mind of the negative feedback that many entrepreneurs receive when they strategically opt to be involved with various opportunities or work in multiple industries. With that being said, I am proudly working as full-time life coach, podcast host, college professor and the owner of an online accessories business. I truly enjoy helping people in any way that I can. Once I understood my unique answer to that call, I used finances from my jewelry business to gain my life coaching certification. Through my jewelry & accessories business I am able to help customers show off their confidence/personality by offering affordable fashion accessories. Through life coaching I am focused on helping women, particularly fellow mothers, skillfully use tools to achieve their personal goals to ultimately live the life they desire & deserve. Both roles are extremely rewarding & give me a sense of purpose that far outweighs monetary gain. When you work in your lane using your God-given gifts, everything else simply falls into place. I also began hosting a weekly podcast “Life on The Glow” which offers listeners professional coaching insight on various topics. Now, as a college professor, I am positioned to give back to an institution & community that was so much of what I needed to help me become the woman that I am today. It is truly my complete joy to help others shine!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I will be completely honest here; I primarily share my business and services on Facebook. It’s my platform of choice and the space that I connect with others the most. I’ve been a Facebook user for about 18 years so that tells you how much time I’ve had to evolve and build relationships. However I believe that social media, no matter the platform, gives business owners an amazing opportunity to grow their customer base. Two things that matter greatly are visibility and authenticity. Clients/Customers want to see & know the real person behind the business. They want relatability. They may connect with someone because they can literally imagine hanging out, shopping, dining or partying with that particular business owner. They can see themselves in you! A million people can be doing the same thing that you’re doing yet there is only one YOU, that’s the sauce–that’s the secret, no additives or artificial flavors! I definitely build my audience by being myself. I share parts of my life concerning my family and personal interests and I have fun on social media by engaging and interacting with others. You can’t take anything too seriously or you’ll lose yourself. I don’t get caught up in how many followers I have or how many likes a single post gets. My goal is to always be the same person on and off social media. Followers and likes can be purchased but in real life, you can’t fake it. Either people are with you or they’re not, so you may as well be yourself. People tap into social media for many reasons. Sometimes it’s to escape their problems and find a peaceful & positive distraction. I am ever mindful of the fact that I could potentially be someone’s inspiration for the day. I don’t take for granted my influence. Therefore, while I am real and honest, I truly understand the responsibility that comes with building a business on social media. I definitely manage my presence with care.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Again, showing up as a real person is key! People want to deal with someone that they can genuinely relate to and trust. I am a firm believer of word of mouth too. Clients/Customers will always be willing to share their experience with others, whether it be a good or awful experience. Individuals have referred me to others as a life coach and as a jewelry consultant because of their direct experience with me. The feedback that I often receive is heartwarming. My motto is get it right or make it right, no excuses. I always try to ensure that my jewelry customers know how much I appreciate them. From the way we package their orders to including a free item in their order, we definitely find ways to send the message of gratitude to them. My coaching clients are in need of support and a listening ear. I want them to know that I am not only listening but that I actually hear their words so that I can effectively & skillfully help them grow in the direction of success. I am human and fully capable of making mistakes, so I don’t try to make excuses when issues arise. I deal with those issues head-on and work to maintain positive relationships with my clients and customers. Businesses thrive on reputation. Therefore, I do my best to set the standard high in every venture so that my customers/clients feel confident in their choice to shop or work with me.
