We recently connected with Ella Andre’ and have shared our conversation below.
Ella, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
That is a heavy question. There are times when I wanted to give up completely. Being an entrepreneur is hard and it keeps you up at night, Just this past weekend I was having second thoughts of whether all the sacrifices were worth it. There are times when business is so slow that the money made is just to buy more supplies for your inventory. I handle every aspect of my business, so I know how much is spent and how much is made every month. This summer has been a big transition of not having the business handle the bills coming in. But then an order came and another client booked for a self care group service and then everything balanced out. It’s times like these when I realize it is all worth the struggle.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I am a 30 plus year Master cosmetologists who has transitioned into Whole wellness. The reason behind this transition was the pandemic. I no longer felt safe doing clients face to face and therefore started doing online consultation for skin, and physical wellness. The physical wellness included eating plans, nutrition advice, exercise routines and shopping list for wellness. I also make natural sugar scrub and body butter, which I developed due to my many allergies. During the pandemic, I started to sell my products and they were a hit. Therefore, I continued to sell them when the world opened up again. Once the pandemic scare was over, I went back to doing a select few clients but expanded on my butters, scrub, honey turmeric mask and added apparel to my website. My consultations are what I am most proud of because you can see real time results and the happiness of my clients makes me happy.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Word of mouth is the best strategy for building business for a small company. If you have a good business, with valued products then this will keep people talking for sure.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
My biggest lesson that I had to unlearn is that people you know will support you. I have seen people that I know patronize big retail stores, but not buy my products. People in your circle may not be your biggest supporters. It will most likely be strangers.
