We were lucky to catch up with Elizabeth Page recently and have shared our conversation below.
Elizabeth, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?
As my company grows, I keep up to date and take into account current trends in both wedding and portrait photography. This enables me to value quality over quantity. I’ve seen a lot of growth in 2021, but I know I have a long way to go and that’s exciting!
Elizabeth, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My photography business is called Elizabeth Page Photography. This is my first and middle name, I go by “Page” and have for my entire life. I started my professional photography business officially in 2015, but I have been doing hobbyist and amateur photography work far before then, starting in 2009.
I specialize in portrait photography and wedding photography. My brand is colorful, crisp, but natural… a very enhanced version of everyday life! I also photograph events, live music, headshots, and lifestyle sessions. I could creatively direct and photograph an edgy concept you come up with or do soft, endearing maternity photos in a sunflower field. I have done this on the same day before!
My goal in my business is for my work to be timeless and to tell the story of you. I LOVE that I have the opportunity to deliver lifelong memories to my clients. I am most proud of my ability to problem-solve by going over and beyond to tell the story of each client, putting the same care into them as I would myself.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Resilience is one of my strengths in my personal life that carries over to my business.
I was attacked in the face by a dog in June 2020. I had 30 stitches put in my lip. I had many photography gigs booked, so I did have to continue to work and maintain professionalism to clients during this time. I was able to surmount this by intense rest, self-care, and leaning on my support system.
I also lost my mother at the age of 17. I will most likely be healing for the rest of my life. But I have grown through grief and I have been able to portray intense emotion in my work that I feel I might not have felt as connected to without this initial loss of a loved one and visceral attack.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Being a creative professional does indeed have its high points. It is most rewarding when you see your hard work paying off over time, in both financial and emotionally fulfilling ways.
