We were lucky to catch up with Elizabeth Meigs recently and have shared our conversation below.
Elizabeth, appreciate you joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
One of the most unexpected problems I faced in my business was dealing with a lack of support from someone I thought would be my biggest cheerleader—my husband. When I started stepping into my calling as a speaker and coach, I believed I had the support I needed. But as I pursued my purpose, God opened doors, and the enemy began to work through the person closest to me to stop me. It was devastating to hear things like, “No one will ever pay you to tell your story. The only financial security you’ll ever have is through your degree.” These words cut deeply, especially since I knew without a doubt that God had called me to share my story to inspire and equip others, as I had been doing for over a decade working as an Occupational Therapist, providing hope to those who were lost in a time when that was what they needed most. Honestly, while Occupational Therapy helped me to see the power behind my story my heart was no longer in that job, because what set my soul on fire was speaking from a stage, or in a 1-1 coaching session with one of my clients, providing hope and helping them to embrace the beauty in the mystery of their life’s journey so they could access and find success in every aspect of their lives, just as I have done.
The turning point came in February 2023 when I had the opportunity to attend a two-day speaking conference. This was a door God had opened to help me step fully into my purpose and was just the beginning of me stepping fully into my own Miracle Power™. I remember pleading with my husband three times before he reluctantly agreed to let me use my business money, warning me, “If you can’t make money after this, you’re going to quit playing games and get a real job.” Despite the resistance, I went to the conference, and after just six minutes of sharing my story, I received a standing ovation. One man told me, “Your story needs to go nationwide today because you can help so many people.” That moment brought everything full circle. I had been speaking in churches since 2017, seeing the impact my story could have, but I now realized that all of it had been preparing me for this exact moment. It was the confirmation I needed to keep moving forward. I couldn’t let anyone or anything stop me. God was fulfilling His promise to me over two decades earlier.
At 14, I had been severely injured in a car accident that left me fighting for my life. The girl I once was, along with the dreams I had been chasing, died that night. I had to rediscover who I was, piece by piece, after the accident. Only God’s voice of hope kept me going through the overwhelming challenges I faced daily. His words, “I have a plan for you. You can’t stop. You have to keep going,” became my lifeline, even as I often wished I hadn’t survived. In those moments, it felt like giving up would have been easier, but God’s voice reminded me that His plan for my life perfectly aligned with my purpose—and I couldn’t give up on it. I knew that one day, I would need to be for someone else exactly what I needed at that moment.
The problem became even clearer when, a week later, I was offered a scholarship to a 4-month coaching program that would equip me to grow my speaking and coaching business and opened my eyes to all the ways I could do as I was called to do by empowering others through devastation, loss, and trauma, on a more full-time basis. When I shared the news, my husband dismissed it entirely, questioning the coach’s intentions and forbidding me to proceed without written proof that no fees were involved. His refusal to support my calling and the emotional manipulation I endured forced me to face the harsh reality of the environment I was in. I suddenly became aware that all the chaos and confusion I had been enduring the last few years were of my own doing, a choice I had made to get married to someone who hid his insecurities and who he was before marriage I chose to enter into this place, where I wasn’t seen, valued, or appreciated. Now, I realized that I was the only one who could choose to get out.
At that moment, I felt overwhelmed and unsure of how I would navigate this storm. But I knew from past experiences that God’s voice was louder than anyone else’s, and it had always brought me comfort and peace in a time when that was all I longed for. I prayed for clarity and asked God to show me the way. Within days, He opened the door for me to leave. On Easter weekend, I escaped, leaving behind an environment of chaos, manipulation, and control to reclaim my peace and pursue my purpose. I had to choose to Rise up out of the grave of despair, pain, and heartache I was in daily. Early in the morning on Easter, I had finally found the peace I once lost. The timing is no coincidence; He is still rolling stones away, moving mountains for each of us, but we have to be willing to get up and move to the door or the window to see those mountains moved.
Resolving this issue required immense faith and action. I had to trust God completely, believing in His promise that He would make a way, as he had repeatedly for over 20 years. It also required me to step into my power and remove myself from a situation that no longer served me, other than to steal the peace and freedom I once knew. This experience reinforced what I already knew, that God equips us with everything we need to fulfill His plan—we just have to be willing to take the steps He asks of us, when He sees us trying, and we ask Him for help that is when He steps and makes a way where there is no way.
This challenge shaped my business profoundly. It reinforced that God’s timing is perfect, He is never late, and everything happens for a reason, even when we don’t fully understand. Lean into the purpose He placed on your heart, and know you are enough. Those dreams on your heart are there for a reason, and only you can fulfill them. The reward you receive for stepping out in Faith, Trusting and Believing in the greater good, and refusing to give up makes the victory so much sweeter once you finally break through. Today, I use my story to inspire others to rise above their challenges, proving that no obstacle is too big when you trust in a higher purpose and keep moving forward. I also provide a shortcut to Unlocking your Own Miracle Power™ by helping you discover the keys that bring freedom, peace, fulfillment, and joy so you can live a life of abundance as we were all meant to.
This was all a part of the plan because once I escaped, I received clarity on every strategy that I developed recovering from my car accident that now makes up my Pathway to PEACE Method™ Framework so that I can provide that shortcut to others so that it doesn’t take two plus decades for others to find the peace, freedom, and fulfillment that I have.
Elizabeth, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Elizabeth Meigs, is a Transformational Coach, Inspirational Speaker, Best Selling Author, and Founder of Elizabeth Inspires. My mission is to empower high-achieving women after divorce, loss, or trauma to regain the confidence, clarity, and courage to reclaim their power and pursue their purpose. My journey into this work began with my own story of overcoming unimaginable challenges and learning to rebuild a life of peace and fulfillment through faith and resilience.
At 14, I was severely injured in a devastating car accident that left me fighting for my life. The physical, emotional, and mental toll was immense. I lost the girl I once was and the dreams I had been chasing, but God’s voice of hope sustained me. Through years of trials, including rejection, grief, self-doubt, and burnout, I developed strategies that helped me rise above every obstacle. Those strategies now form the foundation of my Pathway to P.E.A.C.E Method™, a transformational process designed to empower others to overcome chaos and confusion and step into their God-given purpose.
Today, I provide various services to support women in their journey toward healing and growth. These include my Pathway to P.E.A.C.E Method™, which is available as a self-paced course, or my 90-day 1-1 Miracle Power™ Empowerment Coaching. I also offer speaking engagements where I share my story to inspire and equip others to overcome their struggles. My goal is to help my clients break free from the weight of judgment, fear, chaos, confusion, and overwhelm, giving them the tools to build resilience, protect their peace, and reclaim their power.
What sets me apart is that I have lived the transformation I teach. I have had to become an expert problem solver, learning to bounce back from all my setbacks. Every strategy I share has been forged in the fire of my own experiences, from overcoming trauma to navigating the challenges of marriage, loss, toxic workplaces, job loss, and rebuilding after hitting rock bottom. I’m not just teaching concepts; I’m living proof that the tools I offer truly work. As a God-centered coach, I’ve seen firsthand how He has been working through me for over 13 years, guiding me as I supported my patients in Occupational Therapy. When the strategies I now teach were revealed to me, I realized I had already been sharing them with my patients—helping them find hope and strength in their darkest moments. By allowing God to work through me, I’ve not only become a light for others but have also witnessed the transformative power of faith and resilience in action.
I’m most proud of the lives I’ve impacted. Hearing from clients who have regained their confidence, clarity, and joy, seeing a clear path towards dreams that once felt unattainable, or who have found the peace they never thought possible affirms that this is the work I was called to do. My faith is the cornerstone of my business, and I’m committed to walking alongside my clients as they learn to embrace their own resilience and live a life of freedom, abundance, and fulfillment.
For anyone considering working with me, I want you to know that my passion is your transformation. My work is designed to meet you where you are and help you take the steps needed to create the life you deserve. Whether through courses, coaching, or speaking engagements, I’m here to empower you to rise above and thrive. I am eternally grateful to now be the voice of hope for others, just as God was in my darkest moments. Guided by the transformative power of hope, our mission is to empower individuals on their unique wellness journey, fostering Healing that Opens Pathways to Empowerment (H.O.P.E).
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In 2017, I faced an unexpected challenge when I lost my job. At the time, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do or how I would move forward. But as I reflected on the situation, I realized that the job had been filled with chaos and confusion for over a year, I was burnt out no longer doing what set my soul on fire. Our therapy department had been sold to a contract company, and the focus shifted entirely to profit, with little regard for patient care or employee well-being.
Despite the uncertainty, I qualified for unemployment and continued working in a PRN position I was blessed to have. I kept moving forward, trusting that God had a plan. About 60 days later, I learned about a position opening at the hospital where I had previously been offered a transfer—an opportunity I hadn’t taken when it was first available. This time, I seized it, and it turned out to be exactly where I was meant to be.
This experience taught me that everything happens for a reason, even when it’s not immediately clear. Resilience isn’t just about enduring the tough moments—it’s about trusting that they’re leading you to something better and that everything will be turned around for the greater good. My entire life is proof of this fact.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the most pivotal moments in my life came when I realized the path I was on wasn’t aligned with the purpose God had for me. After my car accident at 14, I thought I had lost everything—my dreams, my voice, and my identity. But through God’s voice of hope, I learned to adapt and rebuild myself. I had to rediscover who I was and what I was meant to do. This wasn’t just a single moment but a recurring theme throughout my life, where I’ve had to learn to pivot again and again. I promise with the right support it does get easier.
For example, in 2020, I pivoted both personally and professionally when I moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area after getting married. I left behind a strong support system, believing I was stepping into a new chapter filled with love and shared faith. But the reality of that relationship showed me that not everything was as it seemed. As I faced emotional and verbal abuse in my marriage, I had to pivot again—this time, leaving behind what no longer served me and reclaiming my peace, independence, and purpose.
In business, the ability to pivot became even more critical. In 2017, when I lost my job, I realized that setbacks can often be divine redirections. I took on a PRN role while waiting for clarity and eventually stepped into a hospital position that aligned far better with my values and goals. That experience taught me to trust God’s timing and embrace change as an opportunity for growth.
My coaching journey also required a significant pivot. In 2019, I began coaching clients on wellness products, specifically the benefits of CBD oil, which had been a Godsend for me. It helped me regain my life in ways I never imagined possible after my brain injury—my “Hope in a bottle.” At the time, I didn’t realize that this focus would serve as a stepping stone. Two to three years later, it led to another pivotal moment: transitioning into Transformational Coaching. Where I now teach the strategies I developed through God’s grace and mercy in high school—strategies that have allowed me to continually bounce back stronger with every challenge I’ve faced.
Whether in life, career, or business, pivoting has become a cornerstone of my resilience. Each time I’ve faced a major shift, I’ve leaned into the discomfort, trusted the process, and taken steps toward aligning with my purpose. It’s a lesson I now share with my clients: the path you’re on may change, but that doesn’t mean you’ve lost your way. Often, it’s a redirection to something better. There is beauty in embracing the mystery of the journey.
