We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elizabeth McDonald. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elizabeth below.
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope my clients remember me each time they look into their beautiful bunny’s eyes and think back to where they were born and raised. I have such a compassion for raising the bunnies right, in a loving, caring, and clean environment! I hope they think of my frequent communication the next time they have a bunny question. I frequently send families updates on their bunny’s, whether they are a baby not ready to go home yet or a bunny coming back for boarding. I love getting updates and questions from families! It makes my day to hear from a bunny family! I hope they think of what a unique rabbitry I created the next time they pass a pet store. I strive to educate each family on how my bunnies live, the same way they should continue to raise their bunny, in a large area with playtime often, lots of love, and a healthy diet!
Elizabeth, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
At Lizzie’s Lops we breed holland lop bunnies, board our past bunnies when families go on vacations, and sell some bunny products including Timothy hay and bunny beds. I have had bunnies my whole life. My mother raised mini lops as I grew up, and I took it over. In 2020, I get my first holland lops and preferred them over the mini lops due to their smaller size. From there Lizzie’s Lops blossomed into what it is today! We raise a happy population of holland lop bunnies which go to homes all over the eastern side of the U.S.. I want potential clients to know that at Lizzie’s Lops we handle every baby from birth and on, our bunnies get an excessive amount of love and attention! We are often complimented on how sweet and used to humans our bunnies are once they go home. Our bunnies are raised in our home and get exceptional care with lots of playtime every day! Unlike most rabbitrys you are able to come visit our baby bunnies to choose your bunny. We believe it is very important to get the perfect fit for your family, so the bunny’s personality meshes perfectly with your lifestyle! I am most proud of the incredible families my bunnies have found and how close I am able to stay with all of my past bunnies. I am truly grateful for all of the wonderful people I am able to work with every day. It brings it all home each time I get a picture with an update!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The most important thing for any rabbitry’s reputation is to ethically raise bunnies! When the bunnies come from a rabbitry with good morals, a wonderful environment, and lots of love, the families take comfort in that. Communication is another key component to a good reputation. Communicating pictures, videos, and updates frequently to the families while they eagerly await their bunny’s arrival home allows the owner to get to know their bunny before coming home.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients is word of mouth. I firmly believe that with a good reputation, past families will talk to their friends, family, neighbors, and more about your business and recommend you! It makes me so happy each time someone tells me they were recommended to us! Building up a strong foundation takes time but once the first clients start talking to people about you the business has potential to take off!
