We were lucky to catch up with Elizabeth Lange recently and have shared our conversation below.
Elizabeth, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
After my 2 sisters lost their phones in the same week my mom was furious. Later, while chatting with her sister in law she found that she always kept her phone in her bra! Even after developing a breast cancer tumor in the very same place!
My mom, Tami, decided we needed a safer and more convenient place for our phones and she invented touch screen purses.
Within 6 weeks she found manufacturers, got her first products, created her website and launched her company.
Within 6 months Lori Grenier from Shark Tank called her to make a deal and create a partnership. From there Tami has launched Save The Girls into QVC, HSN, GMA, and even networks in Canada and Australia.
But the best part is that ever since the very beginning my mom knew she wanted to create a business that wouldn’t just support us and our family but something that could help so many more. So she has committed 10% of all Save The Girls profits to breast cancer research. Thanks to over 1 million awesome customers, we have now been able to donate over $120,000 to the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Research Division and we are on track to donate another $30,000k at the end of this year.

Elizabeth, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Modern problems call for modern solutions. And now more than ever, we are tied to our devices. They aren’t just a way for us to reach and interact with the outside world but our phones also keep us organized, on schedule and up to date. But what would you do if you lost your phone? That frustration for searching for your phone as you’re trying to leave home.
We always have to have our phones on us, but don’t always have a space for it. And thats where Save The Girls comes in.
Designed by women for women, our Touch Screen Purses & Clip & Go’s are designed to move with your everyday. Whether you’re running errands, watching the kids game, out or a night with the girls, or on your long awaited vacation, our products move with your life style and provide peace of mind knowing your phone is right at your finger tips so you can always catch that perfect picture, or answer that call from mom.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When Tami got her very first container of products in from our manufacturer there was a terrible storm and the container went overboard off the coast of LA. That was $65,000 sitting in the ocean!
She had no idea if we ever would receive the product, and if we did what condition it would be in.
Though this was a near death of the business scenario, she was incredibly resilient. Carrying the stress of it all on her shoulders while keeping the team calm.
She tells the story much better than I can – and she will be on the interview. But it was incredibly impressive. Throughout this tariff process she has been incredibly resilient as well.

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
Yes, in 2017, as soon as Tami had the idea for touch screen purses she put it on Alibaba.com as a joke just to see if anyone out there could make it for her. The next day she was surprised to see 17 bids on her project. She was shocked to see that they were all from the same province in China. She decided to get a one way ticket to see what it was all about.
After visiting many factories and shocked by the fantastic labor laws, cleanliness of the factories & how many name brands she saw being manufactured in the same place, she decided that this was really something she could do!
Be sure to ask her about terms and the differences between manufacturing in China & Cambodia.
