We were lucky to catch up with Elizabeth Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Elizabeth, appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later?
I started my blog, Country Peony, in 2013, however I sat on the idea for about 5 years before that
Fear of failure and concern of what others may think are the two main reasons I did not start sooner. Once I got out of my own head, and just started to create and share my passion that is when I started to grow, and it was/still is a beautiful process. Any failure has been a beautiful learning experience, and I now focus my efforts on trying to serve my community with educational content rather than worrying about whether or not people are judging me for it.

Elizabeth, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Since 2013, I have been blogging at Country Peony inspiring others to craft a happy life! I focus on simple and inexpensive DIY and craft projects that inspire anyone and everyone to create. I tend to love vintage-inspired and whimsical crafts and spaces.
My creative spirit started on a farm in Texas and after a career in PR & events, and starting a family, I moved back to my roots into a charming farmhouse in the country.
I create content about simple and inexpensive DIY and craft projects, sell vintage and handcrafted items, and I inspire my audience as I design for my craft studio and farmhouse.
I am in the process of renovating an old general store into my craft studio. Through the Country Peony Studio I will host live workshops with brands, create video and photo content, and produce in-person creative events.
I believe in the power of creating, and I believe we are all creative!
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
After 6 years of blogging, I was able to turn my side hustle into my full time income. What started as way to express my creative spirit and to inspire others to do the same, has become a way to truly help people find their creative spirit.
I believe the biggest growth for my business occurred because I invested in myself through online education with paid courses, and free resources like podcasts and video content. Within the last year I also joined a mentor group that is specific to blogging and it has been a game changer to learn from and bounce ideas through.
As an entrepreneur, especially in the online space, it can become lonely and can ve very daunting at time. It is so important to find a group of people that understand for support and growth.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The best part for me is getting the chance to truly play, and help others to do the same. When I hear that someone was able to relax and truly enjoy his/her project because of a tutorial I showed them, it makes my heart so happy! I can’t believe that I get to play and experiment for most of the day, and that brings me so much joy!
