Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Elizabeth, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success rests within your heart and so often the measure of success is the smile on your face or the smile you bring to others. True success calls for aligning your heart, truths and energy and defining or redefining your moments. You create the life you are most passionate about by listening to your heart and trusting the answers it provides. Finding and maintaining success also is best achieved by surrounding yourself with the proper people who foster peace within you and help you grow. If we can’t surround ourselves ideally, then we need to have the tools to separate ourselves based on our values, goals, beliefs, and behavior and recognize naysayers who may block our success.
To create success in all areas of our lives, it is helpful to master the Ten Points of Change, which is a process I created in The Change Guidebook to help create success in all areas of your life. Learning to navigate change is so important as we manage our choices, actions to see the unlimited possibilities and our full potential.
Elizabeth, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am 53 and a mom of four sons who are now 21, 23, 25 and 27. I left my career in the financial services industry and re-entered it in 2006 when our youngest went to school. I thought it would be a brilliant move to suit back up and re-enter the workforce. It turned out to be miserable. So much so that in a moment I closed my office door and wrote down the words, “best ever me” and “best ever you”. It was in those moments that The Best Ever You Network was born. I chose Best Ever You feeling that many people were in this same situation with small kids and trying to navigate a career and self-care, their relationship and more. I felt an extreme need to focus on comprehensive well-being, so that a person understood their life was so much more than just one or a few things that could potentially define them. I quit on the spot and never looked back.
Today BestEverYou.com is a leading multi-media provider of personal and professional development services globally. My podcast called The Best Ever You Show has millions of downloads and listens, I am the author of multiple books on the topic of change including the award-winning book, The Change Guidebook and we just re-launched our magazine, YOU Magazine. As a master life coach, I also train people to become life coaches.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media presence is a must these days and is how I built The Best Ever You Network. I built my audience by being present, engaging others, and mostly by becoming a trusted place and space for people, where people know they can rely on me or those in our network for positive, uplifting, gratitude-based content. Early on, I vowed to never post any negative comments or materials – nothing that would ever divide our audience. I don’t do controversy just to amass likes and comments, I’d rather keep the material I post out of that realm. One way I grew my audience that I have remained consistent since 2008, is to have a 1:10 ratio. For every post about myself, I do ten engagements of some kind with others. This has served everyone much better than if I just post about myself all of the time.
My advice to those learning about social media presence is to understand and use hashtags properly. Also understand that it is very noisy out there. Don’t assume people have read what you posted or ever saw what you posted. If engagement is low, engage others before you expect others to engage you.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Many books and people have significantly impacted how I operate in all areas. If I had to pick one, I’d say Jack Canfield and his book The Success Principles, has had the biggest impact on all areas of my life. I believe Jack is a tremendous resource to help others be their best, live their best lives and create incredible success. I’ve had him on my show a few times now and each time, he has pointed me in a new direction to grow. I’m very grateful for Jack!
