Hi Elizabeth, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

Travel-eeze is the end result of decades of suffering from constipation through health issues from endometriosis.

The bouts of constipation became so severe that I stopped enjoying food and had to resign from my dream job of being a flight attendant. I became hyperaware of the effects of what I ate that would result in painful episodes. I tried colonics as a temporary fix, as well as juice cleanses, diet changes, and holistic products. Traditional OTC laxatives became too unpredictable with the stomach cramping, runs, urgency, and dehydration that went along with it.

Nothing worked easily and well enough on a more permanent basis.

Years later, while vacationing with my husband, my constipation affected not only my trip, but his trip, OUR trip! I was afraid to relax and eat and drink, and the episodes kept me stuck inside our hotel room. Enough was enough.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

Starting eeze Natural Health was initially a passion project for me rather than a side hustle, as I don’t favor the term “side hustle” due to its negative connotations. My journey began after hours, following my day job as a residential real estate agent, a field I have been immersed in for over a decade, having grown up in the real estate business. The inception of eeze Natural Health was driven by my personal need to address gut health issues, specifically constipation, through a supplement. This venture has since evolved from a simple after-hours project to a direct-to-consumer business via our website, and it is also available on Walmart.com and several other online platforms. The growth of eeze Natural Health has been significant, and I am currently in the midst of transitioning to focus on it full-time. Taking this leap of faith has been challenging, but I am confident and committed to this new business venture that I have passionately developed.

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.

The story of manufacturing Travel-eeze began in the most humble of settings—my very own kitchen. Driven by a personal need to address my gut health issues, I formulated Travel-eeze initially to help myself. When I realized its effectiveness, not just for me but also for many of my friends, I knew I was onto something special. This realization marked the beginning of my journey to find a manufacturer who could produce Travel-eeze on a larger scale.

Navigating the world of manufacturing was uncharted territory for me. My first step was to ensure the product was approved by a doctor, ensuring its safety and efficacy. Once that milestone was achieved, I began the search for a manufacturer, also known as a co-packer, to bring Travel-eeze to market. Finding the right fit was far from straightforward. It involved a lot of trial and error, especially since I was initially working with a smaller scale of product.

Trust became a cornerstone of this process. I learned that building a good relationship with your manufacturer is crucial. You need to work closely with them every step of the way to ensure your product meets the highest standards. The beginning was challenging; many manufacturers were hesitant to work with me due to the small scale of my orders. However, persistence paid off. I eventually found a manufacturer willing to take a chance on Travel-eeze, and from there, production began to grow.

As the production scale increased, so did the ease of finding manufacturers willing to work with me. I’ve been fortunate to find a reliable manufacturer, but I’ve learned the importance of always having backup co-packers. The landscape of manufacturing can change, and having alternatives is a smart strategy. My advice to anyone looking to manufacture a product is to be patient, build trust, and always have a contingency plan.
