We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elizabeth Carlile. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elizabeth below.
Elizabeth , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
After 11 years working in the Federal Government, I walked away from a secure job and guaranteed retirement and ventured into the world of entrepreneurship. But in all honesty it was a risk I couldn’t afford not to take because although I loved my boss and excelled at my job, I knew I wasn’t being challenged the way I needed to be. I had much bigger aspirations for my life and I wanted to see what I was really made of. Fast forward to today and I have a top 1% parenting podcast, and have appeared on several projects in film and tv here in Atlanta. I feel like I’m just getting started in a lot of ways, but I certainly wouldn’t be where I am if I had stayed safely in my comfort zone.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
While I was still employed by the government I incorporated my podcast and CBD business Motherhood Unstressed. I knew I wanted to share conversations that would uplift and empower mothers so they they could fully show up in their lives and for their children. The show has over 300 episodes with a mix of educational guest interviews and guided meditations. In many ways I was interviewing people and touching on topics that I needed at the time. Meditation has truly been at the foundation of my success and being in a positive and clear mindset, and so I wanted to share that with my audience as well. The CBD line is going strong and it’s so enjoyable knowing parents are experiencing the benefits of hemp both in mind and body because they discovered it through my work, Over the years the people that have reached out and told me how much my content has improved their lives has meant everything to me.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
At times the work gets chaotic. Balancing motherhood, the podcast, the CBD line and now acting takes its toll. But I always come back to the mission: helping parents thrive so that they can be there for the next generation. It’s a positive ripple effect that I’m honored to be a part of, and no matter how busy I get, the dedication to that truth gets me through.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Like all people who venture out of their comfort zones, I struggled with imposter syndrome and the fear of being judged. When you put yourself out there, people will always question your motives and what you’re doing. I had to turn off my safety mechanism and jump into the void because I knew the reward would be worth it. And, it’s pointless to care if people are judging you, especially if they never take a leap of their own.
