Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Elissa Anderson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Elissa , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Many of us are familiar with the expression “No risk, no reward.” We often get stuck in our comfort zones and don’t make the changes required for us to have the growth and opportunities we desire. In 2020, I was in this position. I was working a job that was ‘perfect’ as far as the box definition goes. Good salary. Great benefits. And yet my soul was pulling me to do more. I’d always had a desire to help people and had recently started my own business, Earth Mama Awakenings, as a way to pursue my soul calling further. My business was slowly taking off and I was balancing the 9-5, and it got to a point where I didn’t want to do both any longer. The more I worked the 9-5, the more it drained my energy and held me back from further growth. After the world shut down and things radically shifted in the external world, I took this opportunity to shift my internal and external world as well. With the support of my amazing husband, I walked away from the comfort and security of the 9-5 and began pursing my business and soul calling more wholeheartedly. A year later, we took an even bigger risk with my husband quitting his 6 figure job, buying an abandoned farm in the mountains, and moving away from everyone and everything we knew to pursue our dreams of self-sufficiency and homesteading. Today, we have a beautiful 52 acre paradise where we’re actively working to build our dream of a sovereign homestead, like-minded community, and healing retreat center. It’s been a huge shift from the life we led before, and we’re happier than we’ve ever been. By taking the risk and listening to our hearts, we’re finding deeper alignment every day and creating the life we’ve dreamed of. I’ve heard it said that our comfort zones are where dreams go to die, and that everything we’ve ever wanted is just past that comfort zone. Finding the courage to take the risk and leap into the ‘unknown’ brings great rewards when we trust, do the work, and live in love.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born and raised in rural Georgia and have always been deeply connected to nature. Today, you can find me outside more than in and this connection to Mother Earth has guided me to where I am today. I’ve also always been a highly intuitive and empathic person with a desire to help others. People have always come to me and shared openly about what they’re going through, and I’m grateful I’ve found my path to be of service in a way that feels aligned with my soul.
My gift of service to the world is helping people with their healing and spiritual awakening journey. I’ve been blessed with so many teachings, lessons, gifts, and experiences, and it’s my honor to be able to share these with those seeking support and guidance. I have been trained and specialize in guiding Shamanic Ceremonies that allow people to truly drop into themselves and heal deeply rooted traumas. The people I work with have been able to heal childhood and adult traumas, break addictions, find relief from treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, heal from PTSD, find peace from terminal illness end-of-life anxiety/depression, and much more. I’m deeply passionate about helping people truly heal and live in love and joy, not just merely exist as so many do. I also offer sound healings, wellness coaching and mentorship, guided meditations, reiki, and various other holistic offerings.
The gifts and services that I offer are different than the traditional Western way of dealing with the ebbs and flows of life. Most modern modalities of ‘healing’, whether talk therapy or pharmaceuticals, merely mask the symptoms while allowing people to exist, but often in a numb, non-fulfilled state. The work that I offer allows people to peel back the layers, find a different perspective of compassion, forgiveness, and acceptance, and to truly heal. As a Priestess of the Goddess, I also bring in elemental wisdom and magic to help beings reconnect to their hearts, Pachamama, and the Earth, Air, Fire, and Water within. When we remember the truth of who we are and our connection to Great Spirit and all beings, magical things can and do happen. Helping beautiful souls along their healing journey is truly a blessing, and I’m grateful to be of service in this way. It’s powerfully humbling and uplifting to be a catalyst for personal growth and awakening and to help people become their greatest version. I know that I am Divinely guided and supported every step of the way, and I’m grateful for those that choose to weave with me in this life journey.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I’m a very authentic person and I’m here to be of service. People primarily find me through direct referrals and word of mouth and when I choose to build a working relationship with someone, I’m very committed to that person and their healing and growth. I genuinely care about the person and this is evident from testimonials that people have shared. My light and love attracts people to me, and for this I’m extremely grateful.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Our society and culture conditions us to be a part of the system. Go to school, take the tests, recite the textbook, go to more school, get a 9-5 job, get the material things, be who you’re ‘supposed’ to be. I tried that and it didn’t work for me. We’re creative beings and that creativity is stifled in many of us at a young age. If we’re interested in being musicians, artists, performer, etc….we’re often told that won’t pay the bills and to find something more ‘stable.’ In this, we lose our childlike curiosity and spark. Our culture has been conditioned to fit in, don’t be different, material things equal success. We often view those who go against the grain as ‘odd,’ ‘different,’ and/or many other labels, so when you awaken and go against the programming and conditioning there will be challenges. As I’ve shed the layers of self that were no longer serving or in alignment, many relationships and things have fallen away as well. It’s been said that anything you lose by being real was fake, and the Universe has never taken anything or anyone away from me without sending me something or someone greater. Unlearning and relearning has been a profound part of my journey and helped shape me into the woman I am today. The reclaiming of self and breaking the mold to step more into the truth of who I am and what I’m here to do has had its obstacles and challenges, and yet these have made me stronger and more dedicated to my purpose. I’m grateful for all of the teachings and lessons that I’ve received and I will continue to be open to learn, unlearn, and relearn.
