We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elisha Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elisha below.
Elisha, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Every endeavor necessitates a foundation, be it the construction of a building, the creation of a work of art, or the crafting of a literary masterpiece. From an early age, my parents imparted the wisdom of discovering one’s life purpose, recognizing that the absence of such a purpose could impede the realization of a successful and fullfilled life.
As I matured, I grappled with the quest to identify my own purpose. I was a young individual with an insatiable curiosity, driven by a passion for a wide array of subjects including music, art, mathematics, science, sports, literature, writing, politics, psychology, sociology, philosophy, and theology, among others. Entering my late teenage years, I became increasingly frustrated as I remained uncertain about my career path. The absence of a clear life purpose left me without a solid foundation upon which to construct my future.
During the early years of my college journey, a revelation dawned upon me. I came to realize the gift my parents had bestowed upon me. Their insistence on my pursuit of life’s purpose had defined my purpose itself. What had driven my passionate exploration of diverse subjects was a commitment to the pursuit of truth.
Growing up in an era saturated with an abundance of information my generation has been granted access to a vast reservoir of information, dwarfing even the legendary Library of Alexandria. However, this wealth of information is accompanied by a formidable challenge — the prevalence of misleading, biased, and outright false information.
In nurturing my quest for purpose, my parents concurrently cultivated my critical thinking skills and my ability to independently assess and process information. This duality has granted me a unique vocation. In an age marked by a proliferation of both credible and dubious news, genuine and counterfeit science, sound financial advice and its polar opposite, my purpose emerges: to aid others in their pursuit of truth and the cultivation of independent thinking.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Elisha Jones, and I am delighted to introduce myself. My wife, Kaitlin, and I have been happily married for two years. We share a professional journey as chiropractors at Jones Chiropractic, a practice that my father established more than 20 years ago.
In our approach to chiropractic care, we pride ourselves on deviating from the conventional mold. Our team possesses diverse specialties, spanning from functional medicine, comprehensive bloodwork analysis, neurology, and psychology, to prenatal care and pediatrics. Recognizing that holistic well-being hinges on the harmonization of physical, chemical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of health, we commit ourselves to exceeding the expectations of our patients.
Differentiating ourselves from the norm, we refrain from merely diagnosing issues and providing solutions, be they pharmaceutical, surgical, or exercise-related, without elucidating the underlying causes. Our hallmark is the dedication to educating our patients thoroughly. We educate the origins of their problems, outline the sequential steps we intend to take in resolving these issues, and lay out preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
Moreover, we hold our patients to high standards because we consider their commitment to their health a paramount factor. While we value each individual who seeks our care, we are selective in accepting new patients. Our stringent criteria are grounded in the belief that our personalized approach requires both effort and dedication. We willingly invest a significant amount of our personal time to provide the utmost assistance, but it is essential that our recommendations are followed to a tee. This ensures that neither our patients’ time nor ours is in vain. In essence, we do not merely provide relief from pain; our mission centers on the transformative impact we can have on the lives of those we serve.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Teachability and changeability. These principles are paramount to achieving success in any professional arena. In today’s world, the rate of change is unprecedented in human history. Over one million research papers in the field of biomedicine alone are added to the NIH’s PubMed database annually, translating to approximately two papers every minute. For individuals in the medical profession, a lack of receptivity to learning and resistance to change can quickly result in obsolescence.
Consider, for instance, the scenario of seeking medical care from a practitioner who graduated in the 1990s and has not evolved or embraced new knowledge since then. Such a prospect is far from reassuring. It is vital to recognize that these concepts extend well beyond the medical domain. In the world of business, technological advancements are capable of reshaping entire industries overnight. Failure to adapt and acquire proficiency in emerging technologies can swiftly lead to competitors crushing your business in a blink of an eye.
These principles have also underscored the crucial role of collaboration and the influence of others in achieving success. Recognizing that there are individuals more knowledgeable in specific areas is integral to personal and professional growth. When aspiring to excel in a particular field, it is essential to seek out those with superior expertise and approach them with unwavering teachability and a commitment to embracing change.
It is a natural human instinct to resist learning and change, a survival mechanism designed to preserve our well-being. However, in the realm of business, it becomes imperative to override this instinct and cultivate a mindset that actively seeks opportunities for learning and adaptation. Embracing these traits not only fosters personal development but also positions one for sustained success in an ever-evolving world.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
This is the most important question I tell interns or students coming to job shadow to ask me and other professionals. I’ve been taken aback by the number of highly educated individuals, even at the doctoral level, who express a desire to choose a different path if given the chance. However, not a single fiber of my soul has an inclination to alter my profession. I make it clear to my interns and students that I fully intend to be one of those elderly practitioners who continues working until their last breath due to the profound love I have for my work.
The second question that typically arises is, “Why do you love your profession so much?” My love for my job is multifactorial. Firstly, within our practice, we extend to our patients the same warmth and care that one would expect within a family. While this sentiment may sound clichéd, it remains a fundamental reason for my deep attachment to my profession. Over the years, I have had the privilege of assisting numerous women through their pregnancies, witnessing the arrival of their newborns, and subsequently watching these children grow up under my care leading me to feel like an integral part of their extended family.
Secondly, my profound love for my job is closely tied to the stereotypes that often surround chiropractors. We are frequently regarded as outsiders, labeled as “quacks,” and dismissed as “fake doctors.” Paradoxically, it is precisely this aspect of our profession that I relish. Despite our adoption of alternative approaches to healthcare, we consistently deliver results that are at least on par, if not superior, with conventional medical practices. The sheer number of patients we encounter each week who have been informed by their primary care physicians, psychologists, or surgeons that there are no further solutions available to them is staggering.
The pressure that accompanies being the last hope for these individuals cannot be overstated. Do we succeed in helping everyone who seeks our care? Regrettably, the answer is no. Some individuals have reached us after prolonged delays or after having traversed through numerous healthcare providers. However, the most gratifying part of our profession arises when individuals come to us as a last resort, having exhausted every other avenue, and we are able to effect transformative changes in their lives.
