We recently connected with Elisabete Silva Guerreiro and have shared our conversation below.
Elisabete, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
From an early age, Elisabete Guerreiro was captivated by art as she admired the stunning drawings of her aunt Amália. This childlike charm turned into a passion for artistic expression and thus built the path that would lead her to the tireless pursuit of arts and design. She graduated in Art Education and later studied Product Design in Lisbon. Today, she is an art teacher and plays an essential role in awakening children’s creativity. About 14 years ago, the dormant flame of painting was rekindled, as she went to live in Andalusia, where each brushstroke is a tribute to the traditions and rich artistic heritage of this region of Spain. She joined the painters of Ayamonte, with whom he has made constant painting courses and exhibitions; Pablo Lanuza, Coque Bayan, Irene Cuadrado, Alberto Germán Franco, Eduardo Milán, Cecílio Chaves, Ana Sara Soberón, are names of some of the Spanish masters with whom she has learned different techniques and ways of painting. Today, she is part of a group of Spanish and Portuguese painters who share a love for the world of colors and shapes, “Luz de Mujer”. She has a vast list of exhibitions held in Lisbon, Algarve, Ayamonte, Huelva, Seville, Madrid, Barcelona, South Korea, Armenia and Turkey. Elisabete Guerreiro also has some articles published about her work in magazines such as Shoutout Miami, Artventurous Magazine ISSUE 33 (Barcelona) and Revistarte (Barcelona), thus immortalizing her artistic career.
Elisabete Guerreiro, combines teaching and painting with balance and joy. This duality in her life, teacher and painter is a harmonious dance that fills her heart with happiness and fulfillment, a colorful and meaningful journey where she unfolds with beauty and inspiration with every trace she leaves in her path and that of her students.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Elisabete Guerreiro, likes to carry out aesthetic experiments with form, light and color, she does not have a single way of working her painting, she assumes and experiments with techniques and styles that can lead to reflection, create emotions and feelings, exploring the most varied paths of creation. She feels at ease when she paints, she is never tied to a single technical and expressive posture. Elisabete has explored the territories of painting, drawing, photography and, in the same way and with the same passion, explores sculpture, objects and installations. Elisabete thus proposes, with her work, in a conscious way, that the spectator has the possibility of living experiences similar to hers, whether or not they have artistic training.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For Elisabete Guerreiro, being a creative artist is the deepest and most significant gratification that often comes from the ability to bring your vision to life and express your emotions in a unique and authentic way. The ability to create something that moves others, awakening emotions, thoughts and reflections, is an invaluable source of satisfaction. Furthermore, the creative process itself, the act of exploring ideas, trying new techniques and improving your skills, is also intrinsically rewarding. Creativity allows artists to connect with themselves and the world in a deep and enriching way, making artistic expression a journey of self-knowledge and personal fulfillment that can be deeply rewarding.
